Mrs. John Scanlan, of Walkerton, au dghter of Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Lynn, et Morris, died suddenly one day last week from heart failure. She was 38 years of age and leaves a hue - band and six small children to mourn her Ion. Much sympathy is expressed for the bereaved ones. The third carnival of the season took place in the Blyth rink on Friday evening last. There was a very large attendance, many coining from the surrounding towns and villages. The priteminnera were: -Beet dressed gent, Mr. Robert Cktrter ; best dressed lady, Kiwi Grace Rawden ; mile race, Mr. Morris Ross, of Wingliam. Mr. J. Ades Fowler, architect, Goderieh, was in town on Monday with the plans for the new union block. The plans gave every lath faction and were accepted by the owners, The block wilt consist of Ave stores and will be two storeys high with buement. By the appear- ance of the plans, the block will be an ornament to the town. The owners of the block will be T. W. Scott 3, (7. Moser, sadiron Bros., Joseph Stothers and Dr. Oirder, Rev. R. Hobbs, of Wingham, gave a mallet sermon against dancing on a recent Sunday evening. Of course be drew a large crowd and secured for himself much ehesp advertidng.
