The grits have started a fresh game
are, with deacon faces and up
i .turned eyes explaining that Providence
Is, and will continue, punishing the

in wicked rulers. We do not think
; any God-fearing man c+rn be led away
by such blasphemy, for the signs, if
there are any, are contrary to grit
showing. If we are to fight on such
mored ground it is not our fault, but
We cannot let such untruths go abroad,

dence is used.. We will go back to '78.

Volae for McLean if you want to see
the sons of toil represented in Parlia-
ment.
The Conservative policy fosters a
Spirit off national self-reliance. And
that's the policy of Robert McLean.
If you vote for McLean you will not
be compelled to buy anything abroad
that can be produced at home.
Workingmen should beware of vot-
ing themselves into free trade idleness.
Robert McLean is your friend.
Reader, do you not think the foreign-
er. who shares our prosperity should
help to pay__our taxes P then vote for
Robert McLean.
Support Robert McLean and the
National Policy. The freedom of free
trade is Liberty to become enslaved.
The chainpions of slavery wore al-
ways determined free traders. Vote
for McLean and British freedom.
Vote tor McLean if you want to pun-
ish the Grit plotters who brought out
Kilty and are alleged to be furnishing
the funds to keep him in the field.
All wise governments have intro-
duced and sustained industry and this
is the policy of Robert McLean.
The elector's around Kingsbridge
should be prepared for another Sun-
day visit from the Christian aids of the
Grit candidate.
Protection benefits the State by giv-
ing employment to the people, and you
will protect your home and country in
voting for Robert McLean.
Free Trade condemns labor to mere
muscular drudgery. This is another
of the many reasons why you sl-ould
vote for Robert McLean.
A tariff for revenue and not for pro-
tection taxes the food of the working-
man. Protect the workingman and
vote for McLean.
During free traae times the bailiff
and sheriff were prosperous. If you
desire such another era, vote for Cam-
eron or Kilty. If not, vote for Mc-
Lean.
Every day's labor on foreign pro-
ducts sent to Canada takes one day's
labor from Canadian workingmen.
Vote for McLean and protect our own
workmen.
,lf manufacturing is so profitable
nder the National Policy, why do not
more Free Traders undertake it ? Vote
for Robert McLean.
Robert McLean should be your
choice. As true Canadians we must
strive to equal other nations in all
good works.
People are filled with wonder at the
ingenuity of th3 Grits, their inventions
for election purposes being marvellous,
as 'forging documents and Sunday
work are only small things to them.
Almost the same gentlemen take
possession of the hall whenever Mr.
Kilty speaks, as our correspondent has
found out. Of these, gentlemen from
Benmiller made a big noise at Belfast,
but they can only vote in one place,
and when they do vote nine out of ten
of the Grits who are shouting for
Kilty will cast ballots for Cameron.
Were Canada to adopt the policy of
the Grits and export our raw material,
we would soon he exporting our popu-
lation. Vote for Robert McLean,
whose policy is to manufacture our
raw material and employ our own
labor and hold our population.
Do not be surprised if the Christian
Reformers of Clinton and Goderich di-
vide up on Sunday and strike for the
side lines and show papers said to be
signed by McLean that he is going to
vote against the Remedial Bill. This
one will he used at Kingsbridge and St -
Augustine, another paper will prob-
ably be shown stating that McLean
has joined the Roman Catholic church,
this will be for Orangemen; and others
will probably charge him with all the
crimes of the calendar. Be prepared
therefore to meet all these lying state-
ments made all the more wicked by
being circulated on Sunday.
If an elector wants to see how the
Grit P. P. A. are going to vote in West
Huron he should attend a Kilty meet-
ing and then a Cameron one in the
same place. At meetings recently held
by Kilt
y he was greatly cheered by
both parties, the P, P. A. men being
the loudest. Mr. Cameron followed at
Rome of the halls, but the difference
was marked, the Con. P. P. A. listen-
ing quietly to the speeches while the
Grit P. P. A's cheered more lustily
than they did for Kilty. These meet-
ings show what will take place at the
poll; the easy gullible Con, P. P. A.
will vote for Kilty and the men who
brought out the man and who organi-
zed the whole scheme will vote
for Cameron. Such is Grit morality.
"The most serious blow that has been
struck at the Government in the dis-
covery of the fact that the Liberals,
McCarthyites and Patrons are all work-
ing together to defeat Tupper and
Haggart."—Signal June 11th, 1896.
Now with this plainly before his eyes
no man who votes fora McCarthyite
can pretend he is not voting for Laur-
ier as Premier, and his boodlers as Cab-
inet Ministers. Here we again call the
attention of McCarthyites to the fact
that Laurler's hoodiers robbed the
Quebec treasury of hundreds of thous-
ands for the last election, but how
much they will squeeze out of the Ot-
tawa one if the McCarthyites send
them there, time alone and the poverty
of the people will tell.

The proud boast of the Oran a Insti

been that its members +are Igoe -mind-
ed, tolerant, and lovers of the Consti-
tution,
In convention at Brucefield. last
Wednesday the Patrons of Industry
pledged their support to Thos. E
Hays.
One strong reason why Tiru NEWS -
RECORD supports Robert McLean is
because he is out and out for British
connection. We cannot say the same
of Laurier and McCarthy -
Cameron and McCarthy are working
hard to defeat the Conservative party,
and G. M. Kilty is a McCarthy candi-
date. If you desire to protect your
home acd country vote for Robert Mc-
Lean.
When any candidate charges THE
NEWS -RECORD with nok being truth
ful invite him to this office and we
promise to make him swallow the lie
he charges us with. This is fair and
honest.
The Blyth Standard denies that
it is a McCarthy or a P. P. A. organ
and we gladly accept the denial,
However, when the Standard
says the meeting referred to by
that paper was taken out of the Mail -
Empire it is not truthful. The Mail -
Empire said truthfully the meeting
was held at Goderich.
Kilty thinks THE NEWS -RECORD does
not speak the truth in all cases. In
fact he has publicly and in private
said so. All we have to say 1s that
our statements hold good, and we can
substantiate them in a court of law.
He is a McCarrhyite candidate and he
has several times declared so himself.
Conservatives, be on your guard.
When M. C. Cameron said in the
House 300,000 P. P. A's in Ontario
would back and vote for Laurier he
evidently was assured there would be
a McCarthy candidate in West Huron
and that they would assist in return-
ing hint by voting for a McCarthy can-
didate. Every Conservative vote for
Kilty means a vote for M. C. Cameron.
Be warned Now!
As far as TRE NEWS RECORD is
concerned, principle will always soar
above personal friendship. We re
spect and admire every man honestly
opposed to us in polities. At the
same time we contend that the Con-
servative policy is in the best intereste
f-thib- f r pntiiiieo,-.and only desire
the prosperity and advancement
our native land. Are you not of the
same opinion 1
It ie eaid THE NEWS RECORD will be
called' upon te prove its assertions.
Well, all THE NEWS•RECORD hes to eay
in reply is that deception and fraud
on the part of the Grits and
McCarthyites in this election should
not be tolerated by Conservatives.
THE NEWS RECORD will not tell the
truth without shaming the devil. Our
statemente are correct.
At a recent prayer meeting in Truro
a good Grit prayed that God would
cause the Grit party to "hang togeth-
er" whereupon a pious Tory present
shouted "Amen ! amen!" This led the
Grit brother to make the following
amendment to his prayer: "Not,
Lord, in the sense our Tory brother
means, but in the spirit of accord and
concord." "Any cord will do, Lord,
any cord will do," interposed the Tory.
The pastor immediately made a rule
that hereafter politics should be kept
out of the prayer meeting.
If the Globe's list of Grit manufac-
turers is no more reliable than some of
the Huron names we pity its deluded
readers. James A. Cline, recently
appointed manager of the Wine'ham
Furniture Factory, gave bis name
without experience or authority and
is now in hot water. Thomas Gregory
says:— "I would advise Mr. Cline to
leave politics alone and confine himself
to the management of his company.
He is not the sole proprietor and has
no right to speak for anyone but him-
self, and I protest against the use he
makes of the Union Furniture Co. to
advance the interests of a political
party."
The New Era will do anything to
discredit its political opponents, and
Grits will swallow and believe its many
misstatements. The Globe is just as
bad. Last week it said Hon. Dr. Mon-
tague had resigned, which was a delib-
erate falsehood. Then the New Era
said Mr. Montague was in very
poor health and was confined to his
room at Ottawa. This was a deliber-
atelie for or the very hour people we e
reading the New Era Hon. Mr. Monta-
gue was speaking to nearly ten thous-
and electors at Exeter, not many
miles from Clinton. Such glaring mis-
representation is part of the stock in
trade of the Grit press, and will only
he endorsed by those who are blinded
by utter partisanship.
The McCarthy candidate at one
meeting would not be in the field if
Sir John Macdonald were living. In
another section he is with the
Government on everything except
the school question. In another only
on two planks of MoCartby'a miserable
platform. In another an independent.
In still another section he is—well,
the electore do not know where! This
ie not atateemanahlp or politics, or
what the electors would send a man
to parliament for. You want a man
to represent rather then miereproeent
your view,. Cameron and McCarthy
are hedging and will not carry out your
mandate. The only way out is to
vote for McLean, the British Cana-
dian candidate, a man pledged to
everything in the beat interests of e
free and happy people.

Three Trlle Friends
Who Keep Every Promise—Rheumat-
ism Banished ; Kidney Disease Takes
Wings ; Dreaded Indigestion not
Known—The Great South American
Remedies.
We can get at the heart of this
m atter by letting other people tell the
truth of what these wonderful South
American Remedies can do, and have
done. John Marshall, of Varney,
county of Grey, suffered as only those
can suffer who have been troubled
with sciatica, A relative suggested
that be try South American Rheu-
matic Cure, which promised so much.
Result—Inside of three days he was
anle to walk a distance of nearly 4
miles to Durham for the purpose of
procuring another bottle of this re-
medy. He continued its use, and to-
day he testifies that he knows nothing
more of the troubles of this painful
phase of rheumatism.
Some disease consists of the gather-
ing of solids and hardened substances
in the system. The troubles cannot be
permanently removed, except as these
particles are dissolved. A powder or a
pill will not do this. South American
Kidney Cure possesses the particular
elements that get at the seat of this
disease. John G. Nickle, one of the
best known farmers in Wallace town-
ship, suffered from kidney complaint,
carrying with it awful pains• Nothing
did him any good, until he tried South
American Kidney Cure. His words
are... "After taking only two doses
the pain was entirely gone, and 1 have
never been bothered with it since. I
feel as well as I ever did. Let anyone
write me to Shipley Post Office and 1
will gladly give them particulars of
my case."
If the world looks blue to anyone it
is to the dyst.eptic. For 10 years
David Reid, Chesley, Ont., suffered
much from liver complaint and dys-
pepsia. He says... "At times my liver
was so tender I could not bear it press-
ed or touched from the outside. I
tried a great many remedies without
any benefit; was compelled to drop
my work, and as a final resort was in-
fluenced to try South American Ner-
vine. Before I had taken half a bottle
I was able to go to work again.—Sold

Kilty hopes to win Conservative votes
he must drop such Grit lies as this. If
he will read up just alittle bit—he prob-
ably doesn't know much about it—he
will find that the tariff is uniform in
these cases, and that the Conservative
party are seeking to bring about an
arrangement whereby goods imported
from Great Britain shall have a refer-
ential rate ova. r those from the United
States. Mr. Kilty's allies, the Grits,
want to reverse this aud give the re-
ferenceto Yankee goods. If Mr. Kitty

will find no sympathy in the Grit-Me-
