A TROUBLE THAT REI. ERS THE LIFE
OF MANY WOMEN MISERABLE.
A SUFFERER ECM TWELVE YEARS
WHOSE TROUBLE WAS AGGRAVATED
BY KIDNEY DISEASE TELLS HOW TO
REGAIN HEALTH AND HAPPINESS.
From the Smith's Falls Record.
Since the Record began to publish
accounts of the cures by the use of Dr.
Williams' Pink Pills, its representa-
tives have found that half the wundel-
ful cures effected by this medicine have
not yet been given to the public. Wo-
men as well as men who have found
relief are eager to let, the facts be
known for the benefit of other sufferers.
Among them is Mts. James} Cotnaui,
of the township of Wolford.
SUFFERED FROM SEVERE HEADA('HE.
The lady referred to was for twelve
years a constant sufferer from nervous
ness, headache and kidney trouble.
Haying read so much about Dr. Wil-
liarys' Pink Pills she determined to
give them atrial. Their use for is short
time brought a o'r'eat improvement,
and after taking them for about a
month the nervous headache and kid-
ney trouble left her. The degree of
thankfulness feltby one who receives
such benefits as the above can better
he imagined than described. Here are
Mrs. Cotnarn's words : "If you could
only know or if I could but tell of the
intense suffering which I have endured
and the many sleepless nights I have
spent in mental and physical agony,
you would not wonder at the degree of
thankfulness 1 fuel for toy restoration
to health." Iter trouble was a con-
tinual dread to her, and for a lung time
prevented her from doing any work.
Since using the pills she is as well as
ever -or to use her own words -"fully
restored." In this household fink
Pills are now looked upon as one of the
necessaries.
As is the case with every good cause
Pink Pills have much to contend with;
spurious articles have been placed on
the market, and, though in appearance
and color they may resemble the genu-
ine, they have an altogether different
effect on the system. The writer was
once in et store when Pink Pills were
asked for by a customer. The dealer
hadn't them but said that he had some-
thing "just, as good." The public are
warned against this "just as good
scheme which is too often restored to
by sortie store keepers. It should he
borne in rnind that Dr. Williams' Pink
Pills are a specific for all diseases aris-
ing from an impoverished condition of
the blood or a shattered condition of
the nervous forces, such as St. Vitus
dance, locomotor ataxia, rheumatism,
paralysis, sciatica, the after effects of
la grippe, loss of appetite, headache,
dixziness, chronic erysipelas, scrofula.,
etc. They ttre also a certain cure for
the troubles peculiar to the female sys-
tern, correcting irregularities, suppres-
sions and all forms of female weakness,
building anew the blood and restoring
the glow of health to pale and sallow
cheeks. In the case of men they effect
a radical cure in all cases arising from
mental worry, overwork or excesses of
any nature. Sold only in boxes hear-
ing the flrm's trade mark and wrapper
(printed in red ink), and may he had of
all druggists or direct by snail from Dr.
Williams' Medicine Company, Brock-
ville, Ont., or Schenectady, N. Y., at
50 cents a box, or six boxes for 82.50.
During last season, Angus McLeod,
of Sarnia, formerly of.Kincardine, won
at the various bicycle meets the follow-
ing articles: 22 diamonds, 2 gold lock-
ets, 1 horseshoe pin, 4 gold medals, 1
diamond pin, 1 opal ring, 1 gold ring, 1
bicycle, 1 pail' shoes, 1 gold -handled
umbrella, 1 set of fruit, knives, 1 five-
o'clock tea sett, 1 sett cuff links and 8
unknown, equal to 30 prizes; 30 firsts,
19 seconds and 0 thirds. Prizes with-
held five times. The total value of
winnings was $1,211.50.

HEART DISEASE STRIKES DOWN
ALL (:LASSES.
THE ESSENTIAL MATTER 18 TO HE PRE-
PARED FOR ANY EMERGENCY.
It is painful to pick up the daily
papers and observe how people of all
classes are being stricken down with
heart disease and apoplexy. One day
it is the farmer in the field, again the
labourer carrying his hod or, as thle
week a prominent architect in Ottawa.
Perhaps it is not too strong a state-
ment, that 80 per cent. of the people
of Canada are afflicted with heart dis-
ease to some degree. What a blessing
it is then, that there exists a medicine
lute Dr. Agnew's Cure for the Heart
which is so quick in producing relief.
Instantly the patient obtains that ease
that is so longed for when the heart is
afflicted. There is absolutely no case
of heart ,disease that it will not help,
and with few exceptions will produce
a radical cure. Sold by (Watts & Co.

The innocence of city ways by the
newly -married from the country dis-
tricts who come to Toronto on their
xedding trips serves to excite only a
Iauguld interest with hotel clerks, but
the other relay the queer antics of a
bridegroom at the — caused a great
laugh. It was the worst, the manager
allowed, he had ever seen, and he has
been in Toronto hotels 20 years.
On Wednesday night a young man
eeeroached the counter arid glanced
nervously around him,
'Are you the clerk ?" he finally ask-
ed,
'"Yes. What can I do for you ?" was
the response.
"I want a room."
The clerk pushed the register toward
him and waited,
"What do you want me to do ?" the
young man stammered out.
"Write your nanre," replied the clerk,
who was becoming interested.
The young man wrote "Harry W.
Snaith," and at the request of the
clerk added Ont." He was as-
signed a room. A few minutes after-
wards a bellboy reported there was a
woman with the new guest. When he
reappeared the next morning his at-
tention was called to the fact that he
had not registerd for his wife.
"I was married only yesterday," was
his explanation, "and I forgot all about
her."
Then he registered from — having
given his bride's maiden name as his
residence the preceding evening. The
couple spent the day in sightseeing, not
returning to the hotel until evening.
A bellboy who had sprinkled wet
sawdust on the floor ofthe rotunda wag
sweeping it up. Stepping up to the bell-
boy he said :
"My wife wants a candle to frizz her
hair with. If you can get one for me
I'll sweep while you are gone."
Taking the broom from the hands
of the astonished colored boy, the
bridegroom proceeded to sweep the
rotunda. His bride, an exceedingly
pretty young woman, evidently the
belle of the village, stod watching
him. The rotunda was crowded and,
the broad smiles as the passing throng
stopped to look at her husband told
her something was wrong. Her face
became crimson. The bellboy was gone
perhaps longer than was necessary,
and by the time he returned the ro-
tunda was well swept. The pair then
started off for their room. They must
have heard the laugh which broke
forth as soon as they were out of
sight.
CLIFF DWELLERS OF ALABAMA.
Skeletons of an Extinct Itac,t Dlseovere
in the River Bluff..
A number of important archaeologi-
cal discoveries are being made In the
bluffs along the Tennessee river near
Florence, Ala. A few days ago a party
of Florentines made an important dis-
covery in a cave high up the bluff,
near Bainbridge Ferry, a few miles
above Florence. The cave is far above
high water and is accessible only by
greans of a ladder 50 feet long. Within
the cave were found human bones and
curious pottery. The bones bore evi-
dence of having belonged to a race
heroic in size, and the pottery is un-
like any found In the Indian mounds
in this section. The cave Is a large
one, and leading off from it are sev-
eral smaller caverns which appear to
have been the work of men. Old re-
sidents in the neighborhood tell of an-
other cave which was found near the
same place years ago, but which was
closed by an earthquake.
The bluff at the point where this last
cave was found is fully 200 feet high,
and it is believed there are other
caves in It similar to the one explored,
that have been closed up with- large
rocks by the people who used them as
a burial place for their dead. Some
months ago a similar cave was found
below Sheffield, by parties from liar -
ton Station, which had been cleverly
closed, and in it were also found hu-
man bones and potery, It is thought
that a race of cliff or cave dwellers
once made their homes in the bluffs
along the Tennessee, and the bones
and pottery recently discoverd are be-
lieved to belong to a race which ha,s
been extict for many centuries.

dale valley, Norway, was the sixth of
Lieut. I'eary's party who has died
Since returning from the expedition. In
speaking of him, Evelyn F. Baldwin,
the meteorologist of the expedition,
says : "His death is a profound shock
to me. Lieut. Astrup was the son of
a Swedish army officer, and on his
return from the first Peary expedition,
was knighted by King Oscar II. On
his return from the last expedition he
took up his residence in Brooklyn,
where his brother now lives, and he
proposed coming to Chicago to study
geology with me. We were to fit our-
selves for further Arctic explorations.
He was only 25 years old and would
certainly have gained distinction In
the field of scientific expioratlon. He
was well known throughout the sclen-
titic world, as he lectured In his own
country and in the United States, ails

Cocoanut nub or.
A company has been formed in Paris,
It Is stated, to make butter out of
cocoanuts. "It has a plant calculated
to produce 4000 pounds of butter a
day." Surely the most prolific plant on
record ! The bread -fruit tree ie fairly
productive, but this butter "plant" en-
tirely overshadows It. Perhaps a care-
ful grafting might produce a bread-
and-butter tree, which would clearly
be a boon to society.

"For six or seven
years I was badly
afflicted with rheuma-

times I suffered very
mnola pain from violent headaches, and in
order to stop same, and upon the advice of a
physician, I had a number of my teeth
extracted. without deriving any advantage.
In Mn.',894, I had a paralytic etrolce in
the left aide of my body • this was followed by
the total loss of eight of the left eye, boating of
both ears, violent headaohea, severe nte, and
great weakness. I became totally unable to
do any work about the house, and was nON
sate to be left alone on account of my dizziness
and general weakness. -
"I consulted four different pbysiclane, wbo
attended me, and they told me that they
would do what they could, but that I would
never become well again.
"About two•montber ago I began using the
medicine being put up by Mr. 8. 8. Rt yelmsan,
M.P., of this o and now known as Kootenay
Cure, and am now taking the fourth bottle Of
such medicine,
"Before I finished the first bottle I noticed a
great improvement in my condition. 1 have

of my hearing, and the use of my limbs and
body, the headache has completely disappeared
and my strength Ilea Dome back almoab
completely, and, In fact, though 62 years old, I
