Cattle cables were worse today, and very
discouraging to shippers. A private cable
from Liverpool quoted 44d for choice Canadian
cattle; middling unquotable. choice States 64d,
and sheep 5d. Freight rates here are flrm at
SOs to 66s, one steamer being lot at 30s insured.
Frites ruled about the same as on last Thurs-
day and from le to lye per lb higher than they
were a fortnight ago. Some of the butchers
maintain cattle were sold at 210 per ib which
could have been botight ten days ago at 20 per
lb. Really good oattle sold at about 81cc per ib
and sanity were held for more. Pretty good
stook sold at from 24e340 ,per ib, common
animals at from 2o to 24cc do, and with tibmfl of
the leaner beats' at tic por lb. Shl pore Were
paying from tie to '13o per Ib for gpcod large
sheep; but the season 19 near over, QOod lame
