MONTREAL LIVE STOCK MARKETS.
Montreal, April 20.—The cattle market
is demoralized, owing to the irregularity of
the British market. There has been prac-
tically no buying of battle forexport yet,
and bat very tittle apace on the boats has
been engaged. There were about 600 head
of butchers' cattle, 500 calves, 25 sheep and
20 lambs offered for sale at she East End
Abattoir to -day. The butchers were pre-
sent inlarge nnmbers,bneiness was brisk,bnt
the prices of cattle were more than a quar-
ter of a cent per pound lower than they
were last week. The highest price paid
during the early part of the day did not ex-
ceed 3lc per Ib, although a few choice ani -
male were held for more. Pretty good
stook sold from So to Bao and the more com-
mon beasts at from 2ko to 210 per Ib. A
large calf, some three months old, was sold
for 91.2. The others were sold at from $1
to $6 eaoh. Sheep sold at from Silo to 5o
per lb, and the lambs at from 83 to 94.50
eaoh. Fat hose sell at about 4c per ib.
Are sold by us not so mrich with a view of making,a large percent-
age on each cigar or each pipe, but with the view of building up a
large trade by selling 'good goods on as low a margin as possible,
Our cigars are smoked by men who know good Cigars, and our as-
sortment of pipes is hard to beat.
