Broad oast net Simply Onsist of Acres and Ready Gash. Health is his Fortune. Paine's Celery Compound restores it when Lost, Broad acres and a good bank account, do not constitute a farmer's true wealth. There are hundreds of farmers around ne who possess wealth in land and gold, but who lack that true fortune known as good health. True manhood, vigorous health and strong nerves are Heaven's best gifts for all classes and conditions of men. It is a melanoholy fact thl.t men and women in the country, breathing the pur- est air, drinking from God's bubbling foun- tains and springs uncontaminated by germs 'of disease, are liable to the same dread diseases that dome think and fast to oity people. Nature's grand laws are continually vio- lated everywhere, and as a consequencethe penalties Dome swift and sure. These pe -i- allies consist of diseases varying in. fdrin `" and character. We find debility, nervor nese, rheumatism, neuralgia, kidney and liver troubles, heart disease, dyspepsia, in. digestion and a variety of terrible blood- diseases.i • When the arrows of affiction pierce with venomed sting, the farmer and his family must seek the same healing agent that oity people use with such success, Paine's Cel- ery Compound is, to -day, the farmer's great health restorer and true life -giver. Its record in the rural districts of our Dominion is as bright and lustrous as it is in the thickly populated towns and pities To so high an eminence has its oredit and worth been advanced, that the majority of country and city families now regularly keep one or more bottles for any emergen- cy that may arise. Paine's Celery Compound has done more life-saving work than all other medioinee combined. It has saved life after the doc- tor failed; it has given health and vigor after years of failure and common mc '- eines. Mr Samuel Hanna, an esteemed and well-known farmer of Manvers, Ont., gives his wonderful experience with Paine's Celery Compound as follows:— "After severe sickness and suffering for a length of time, I am happy to state that I was made well by Paine's Celery Ce, a - pound. To be raised upfrom a low and weak state, inside of two weeks, is a mar- vellous work, which nothing else but Paine's Celery Compound could have ao- complished. "After using half the first bottle of the Compound, I was able to dig the holes for a forty rod fence, and help to build it. Before using Paine's Celery Compound I could not sleep, and had no appetite. Paine'e Celery Compound is worth its weight in gold to any sufferer; it is the best medicine in the world." NEWS NOTES. Campbell, brother of Mr Arch. Campbell, of Toronto Junction, met with a terrible death Monday afternoon. He olimbed into a hopper in the Queen City Mills to get a shovel, when three and half tons of shorts descended from the shute above, burying the unfortunate man out of sight. He was rescued alive, but died in- stantly. Byrd, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church, Denver, was -hot and fatally wounded by Charles Kelton at a social session of the Christian Endeavor So- ciety in the church Thursday night. John Cowling, aged 75, and Martha Cowling, aged 74, were married at Jeffersonville on Thursday by Rev. Mr Hutchinson. The couple were divorced several years ago, and Cowling mar- ried again. His second wife ,lied four months ago. He and his first wife met, the old love was rekindled be- tween the aged couple, and they were remarried. The Sons of Temperance show a somewhat decreased membership for the year. taking the province as a whole. The grand secretary attributes the falling off partly to the attention of the public being taken up with the Manitoba school question. Temper- ance and many other agitations seem to come up in waves, now an ebb, and now strongly flowing tide. The moral seems to be that agitative effort is less likely to be succsssful at some times than at others, and the part of wis- dom is to know when to take at the flood the tide that leade on to fortune. Dan, a large, African, man-eating lion, being exhibited at the Eden Mnsee, Toron- to, was shot dead in his cage by his owner. He was aiwaye of an ugly temper, and had previously injured several people. Recent- ly Dan had been fighting, and got a hole out through hie upper lip. Through this hole one of the lion's teeth protruded, causing the animal intense pain, and making him unusually fierce, so much so that nothing could be done with the beast. It was also fame' that blood poisoning would ensue, so it was decided to draw the offending tooth. Tho owner, Mr Boone, entered the cage alone, and had commencer) the operation. when the lion, maddened with pain, sprang at him. Boone reached for a revolver which he always has handy, and shot the lion dead. The beast was said to he worth $1,000 and weighed over 600 pounds. THIS IS CONCENTRATION. Hutton, until lately a news- paper man of Chatham, now teaching at Tilbury, when on his return trip from Holland about three months ago, put' one of his cardsin a bottle, writing a note on the back of the card offering a. reward to whoever found it, corked the bottle tightly, and dropped it in the middle of the Atlan- tic Ocean. Yesterday he received a letter, which he has not yet deciphered, but which evidently comes from Sweden, enclosing the card with the writing on the back plainly visible. Near Lnga, Russia, the police have dis- covered a new religious sect, whose meet- ings take plane in the little village church. In the crypt beneath the main floor the bodies of a number of children between the ages of 1 and 2 years were found. This gruesomejfind furnished evidence of rum- ors long afloat, that the followers of the new sect sacrificed children from time to time, to please their diety.
