Take No other I DR. DEWART SEES THE QUEEN. The many friends in Western Onta- rio.of Rev Dr. and Mrs Dewart will be tolad to bear that their health has been greatly improved by their trip to Bri- iin, whither Dr Dewart went as the 1e1egate of the Canadian Methodist fieneral Conference to the Methodist Conferences in the Motherland. Of an interesting episode in their stay in the Isle of Wight, Dr Dewart thus 'writes to Rev Mr Courtice, editor of the Christian Guardian: "While in Sandown we had a pleasant surprise h_y a visit from Mr Geo. Cox and Mrs Cox, who spent three days with us. \ We went. with them to several points 'Not ]interest, such as Blackgang Chine, aet Cowes, near which Osborne Castle u .:situated, and also Whippingham 'CltUtais where the Queen goes to church duringg' her residence at Os- borne, when she goes any place out of the castle. But the greatest interest attaches to our visit to a bazaar that was opened by Princess Beatrice in that historic old ruin, Carisbrooke 'Castle, where Charles I. was for a time a prisoner. We found out at Newport that Her Majesty the Queen would leave Osborne at five o'clock to visit the bazaar. Sure enough, abqut six o'clo k, her carriage, drawn by gray ho s, came slowly up from the castle go , passing up through the lane ev ich the people left open. The c. - „Ir age stopped just opposite Prince Beatrice's stall, where Mr Cox and 1 had taken up our position (our good ladies were not far off). As the car- riage stopped, she raised her veil. She spoke some words of praise of the ar- ticles shown her, and purchased some. We were near enough to have shaken hands with her. had she thought pro- per to "extend the right hand of fellow- ship" to two loyal Canadians. But even without this favor, it was quite an event to look in the face and hear the words spoken in conversation by the Queen of England and Empress of India. The Princess of Wales sat be- side Her Majesty, and the Princess Victoria occupied the front seat; but all our interest was centered in the grand old lady who for 57 years has swayed the sceptre over the mightiest empire on the face of the earth. The historic associations of Carisbrooke Castle, the brilliant gathering of dis- tinguished people at the bazaar, and especially •the gratification of such a near view of Her Majesty and other members of the royal family, made the occasion a red-letter day for the Canadian visitors." Rheumatism Conquered. A GREAT ADVANCE IN MEDICAL SCIENCE. A Drscolij °!L Wn'c Tnrs PAINFUL DISEASE CANNOT ESrMT — lR. B. BLASDELL, OF r&ius, ONT., RELAt4t4Ea His EXPERIENCE ."c):Wf+lrifiilire Ce :__.., . .. __ _ • -Ont., Review. Rheumatism has long baffled the medi- cal profession. Medicine for external and Internal use has beenprodnced, plasters tried, electricity experimented with, hot and cold baths and a thousand other things tried, but without avail. rheumatism still held the fort, making the li. 9 of its victims one of misery and pain. Thitifirat real step towards conquering rhenmatietm was made when the preparation known t Dr Will- iams' Pink Pills for Pale Peep was dis- covered, and since that time honsands have testified to their wonderful tcacy in this as well as in other troubles, t e origin of which may be traced to the blood. Among those who speak in the highest terms of Dr Williams' Pink Pills, iE Mr Blasdell, of this town, who is knowh not only to all our citizens but to resident@ of this section, and he is as highly esteemed as he is widely known. To the editor of the Review Mr Blasdell recently said:—"I have reason to speak in terms of the warm- est itiraise of Dr William e' Pink Pills, as they not only saved me a big doctor's bill but metered me to health, which was im• pairedby rheumatism andnenralgia. These troubles were, I think, the after effects of an attack of measles. After tha latter trouble had disappeared, I felt an awful pain in my head, neck, and down my back. I tried a number of other remedies, but without effeot. 1 was then advised by Mrs Horninofg, Copetown, who had been cured of paralysis by the use of Dr Williams' Pink Pills, to give them a trial. I follow- ed her advice, and after using a box or two I began to feel mach better, and with their continued use I constantly impr3ved in health, and am now feeling better than I have done before in ten years. I am sat- isfied that but for the timely use of Pink Pills I would to -day have been a physical wreck, living a life of constant pain, and I cannot speak too highly of their curative powers, or recommend them too strongly to other sufferers, I cheerfully give my permission to publish my statement in the hope that some other sufferer may read and profit by it." Dr Williams' Pink Pills strike at the root of the disease, driving it from the sys- tem and restoring the patient to health and strength. In cases of paralysis, spinal troubles, l000motor ataxia, sciatica, rheu- matism, erysipelas, scrofulous troubles, etc., these pills are superior to any other treatment. They are also a specific for the troubles which make the lives of so many women a burden, and speedily restore the rich glow of health to pale and sallow cheeks. Men broken down by overwork, worry or excess, will find in Pink Pills a certain mire. In the rural districts of Japan one often sees houses and fences built of charred wood that looks as if it had narrowly escaped destruction. The boards are intentionally passed through a fire to prevent decay and the rav- ages of worms. Ropes and fish nets are preserved by soaking them in the juice of the persimmons. I never made one in my life, and as I stand here before this distinguished body now, my pants are rattling like the leaves of the for- ests," and at this point his trembling knees gave way under him and he sank into his chair. After he was graduated from Bow- doin College, ex -Speaker Reed thought seriously of becoming a minister; but he studied law instead of, divinity, and went to Califcrnia to hang out his Shingle.
