CLINTON MARKETS
Corrected every Thursday afternoon
Thursday, May 28, 1895.
Wheat is still moving upward, and as
the market is firm, there is a likelihood
that it will go higher yet. We won't
advise farmers to hold in the hope of
getting $1 for it,but it is moving pretty
close to it just now. There seems to be
a good deal yet in the hands of farmers

MONTREAL HORSE MARKET.
Montreal, May 20. -The market showed more
activity this week, but otherwise there is no
new feature. Values keep about the same as
last week. Heavy horses are being brought
right along within the range of $75 to $125, and
about the same range is quoted for good driv-
ere. The supply continues quite liberal, and
for the present is quite equal to the require-
ments. There were several good sized pur-
chases made by exporters at the Horse Ex-
change and the shipments, including the
through stock from the Western States, amount
to probably 400 head for the week. Smith &
Laurie wore the principal export buyers.
THE DREDGE SONG.
(Published by request and all grounds for libel
waived.)
The dredge Is coming around the bend
The boys all greeee and oil
They dont care what may come
They have to go another mile.
Come Jack shako her up
Let's have a little more steam
You know she can't fetch out them rocks
Unless we have full speed.
Sharp he stands with lever in hand
Determined she shall go
The others may swear and make a tare
He makes the whistle blow.
Sam is there with rope in hand
No matter rain or snow
Ile holds her down till she is Lull
Of mud and great big stones.
Jirn he sings, the anvil rings
The hammer he makes go
The iron red he knows j ust when
To hit it even so
Mgrry Dick you loow quite,well.
The water he makes fl}
The boat he rows for wood he goes
Until Sharp the whistle blows.
Bob the ditches he will make
As strait as any line
The water knows where ere he goes
And after him will flow.
The boss he knows the money goes
When every tenth comes round
Ho pays their bills him or Hill
That's were their money goes.
