We sympathize with Mr. and Mr's. Smith in the loss of their 3 year-old boy, A. A. Smith. Dan Connell is rafting sawlogs along the shore to the harbor here. He is building a saw mill. Part of the machinery is on the grounds. This must be very interesting for parties who are interested in harbor contracts. Timber, plank, &c., &., could be manu- factured right on the ground, but those gentleman at Ottawa don't seem to care a "row of beans" when the work will he done. 'Tis a burning shame and a disgrace to those who have the control of the proposed har- bor improvements that the present state of affairs should exist. J. C.
