On Tuesdayevening, a large number of
the friends and neighbors gathered at the
home of Mr. J. T. Wylie, sixth concession

A runaway that might have resulted
fatally occurred on Monday at the G. T.
R. station whena livery team belonging
toDouglas' barns at Lucknow scared at
the approaching train, Mr. A. Fleming
who was holding them while the driver
went to speak to a traveller hung bravely
to the lines until the horses turned to go
down Josephine St., when the wagon over-
turned and threw him heavily t o the.
ground. In making the dash around the
corner the vehicle would have collided
with Mr. Jas. Walker's undertaking wag-
on only f o r Mr. Walker's presence of
mind and ability to handle his team. As
it was the two wagons scraped each other,
At this Mr. Walker's horses became
frightened and it was with difficulty they
were kept from jumping in front of the
moving train.
' Mr. Fleming was able to walk home,
but received a very bad shaking -up and
will doubtless feel the worse of his experi-
ence for some time.
