that fast spring we bought the bankrupt stock of A. Rolfe, London, at 60c. on the $.
AH you would expect in that stock was a considerable quantity of winter goods, the
greater portion of which were MANTLES, DRESS GOODS, DRESS PATTERNS,
and UNDERWEAR. You will readily see that we could not Ffell these in the spring,
so had to keep them till now. We will be frank with you. These are not this
season's goods, although many of them, for style and appearance, could not be told
from them. Had we so desired we might have placed the greater portion of them
with our stock, and sold them as such. But this we will not do, we will not mix
them with our own importations of high-classMantles,DressGoods„&c, So taking them
and gathering together the odd lines -and remnants already showing in this season's
stock, ve came to the conclusion that the best, the easiest, the quickest way to clear
the balance of this Rolfe stock out, was te-) hold one t,f our well known and popular.
