you will see how much Pink Pills have done
for me. I never felt better in my life than
I do now, although I occasionally take a
pill yet, and am never without a part of a
box in my pocket. I believe that had I

convinced that there is no other medicine
can equal them as a blood builder and re-

cured me when the skill of two of the ab-

look back to the middle of last September
and rememker that I was not able to stand

about by Pink Pills simply miraculous."
Dr Williams' Pink Pills strike at the
root of the disease, driving it from the sys-

and strength, and in all cases of St.

They are also a specific for the troubles
peculiar to the female system, correcting
irregularities, suppressions and all forme

blood and restoring the glow of health
to pale and sallow cheeks. In the case of

The parrot hunter who plunges into
the jungles of the La Cruz river bot-
toms in Mexico and remains three
months to make a catch of as many--
hundred birds, takes his life in his
hands. He is exposed to waylaying
peons, or laborers, he must ever be on
the alert against a night surprise by
wild beasts, he may catch a violent
fever and perish unattended, or he
may be eaten up by ormegoes, or Mex-
ican forest ants -with a bloodthirsty
record.
Three hundred parrots are worth on
an average flfty shillings apiece, which
is $3,750. From that deduct the wages
of half ,a dozen Mexican vagabonds
who go along as tree -climbers, the
keep of five burros. the freight, and
the residue goes into the pocket of the
venturesome parrot hunter or the
dealer who employs him.
The parrot builds no nest, remarks
the Yankee Blade. The female selects
a deep hollow in the highest tree
trunks and there lays two eggs. This
occurs about May 1st. The young are
hatched about June 18th; ten days
elapse before they can open their eyes,
and several weeks must be allowed for
the young birds to gain sufficient
strength to be removed from the cate
of their parents.
The parrot is a wily and wise bird.
It lays its eggs safely out of reach of
ordinary danger and takes good care
not to betray their whereabouts.
When the birds are hatched they are
fed twice a day by their elders, early
in the morning and again about the
close of the day; and this operation
usually betrays to the hunters the
whereabouts of his prey.
The birds, in feeding their young,
give vent to a series of contented
clucks and chuckles, which is answer-
ed by the young ones, and which in-
fallibly indicates to the parrot hunter
where the nest is hidden.
Nocivilized white man familiar with
the danger will himself undertake to
climb the tree and capture the young
birds. -
That is the • work reserved for the
Mexican peons who accompany him.
There is danger from the parent birds,
but almost every tree is guarded by a
colony of ortnegoes, which penetrate
any kind of clothing and viciously at-
tack the flesh beneath it, being known
to destroy large numbers of young
parrots.
The suffering of the peons from the
attack of the Mexican ants, in their
ascent of trees in search of parrots, is
sometimes pitiful. Their breasts are
frequently covered with blood, and in
their agony they fairly tear their cloth-
ing from their bodies, and cast them-
selves on the ground Iseeping and
moaning. Oftentimes the effect is to
nauseate them, so terrible is their suf-
fering. If, as their master, one show-
ed the slightest sympathy for their
condition, they would refuse to go up
again; but under the pitiable condition
of serfdom in Mexico, these men are
no better than slaves, compelled to do
what they are bidden, regardless of
life and limb.
It is fortunate if when the peon is
neatly devoured by ants he is within
reach of water in which to tathe him-
self and assuage his agony. As the
parrots always hatch their young
where water is plentiful, it rarely hap-
pens that the suffering peon cannot
avail himself of natures palliative at
first hand.
This experience is something that no
civilized white man could endure, and
which of itself deters many jungle
hunters from engaging in the exciting
sport of parrot hunting.
