Compound.
The Great Medicine that
Makes People Well.
Always ready! Always faithful! What
grand words of comfort and cheer to sad
and despondent hearts.
We know that there are thousands who
need the comforting and blessed assurance
that there is a medicine ready for all trou-
bles and emergencies, faithful in its work-
ings, and honest in results.
Paine's Celery Compound is the only
medioine in the world that can claim for
its banners and mottoes, "Always ready!"
"Always faithful!"
Past records will substantiate all that is
claimed by Paine's Celery Compound. It
has saved and oured thousands who were
near death's portals; it proved to be the
great healer and life -giver after men
and women had vainly struggled with
other medioines and presoripisons; it re-
stored after physicians had uttered the
terrible word "incurable."
To those who now groan under burdens
of suffering and disease, we say, with all
candor, give Paine's Celery Compound an
immediate trial; it has cured thousands af.
flioted just ag you are, and it will surely
reach your case and do the same gcod work.
Mr A. R. MoGruer, of Dixon's Corners,
Ont., speaks of his wonderful cure by
Paine's Celery Compound as follows:-.
"About six months ago my condition of
health was alarming and I. suffered very
mach. 1 was laid up three days out of
every week; and I often said to my friends
that it would be better, if it•was the Lord's
wilkthat I should be palled away. Three
of the best doctors attended me, but could
not relieve me in any way. It was then I
was advised to use Paine's Celery Com-
pound, which brought relief at once. Af-
ter using this great remedy I find myself a
new man, and feel just as bright as a boy
of eighteen years. I think it is the great-
est medicine in the world, and would
strongly recommend it to all who stiffer."
"Fugitive trains" was added to rail-
road nomenclature during the big
strike. It applied to freights that
started out for a certain destination,
not knowing whether they would "git
thele" or somewhere else.
The newest idea in society is the
"surprise" wedding. Invitations are
sent out for a dinner party, and when
the dinner is over the parson is intro-_

fakes her place and the marriage is
solemnized without further ceremony.
The hottest place on earth is the vi-
cinity of Massowah. When the north-
west wind blows from the desert the
thermometer has been known to go to
160. The men of the Italiangarrison
there can sleep only by the assistance
of natives employed to go to and fro
all night and sprinkle the bodies of the
sufferers with water.
The eyes of the deep sea fishes are
very varied; some have neither eyes
nor sight; others have greatly enlarged
eyeballs, so as to catch the least
glimpse of light. Their eyes tend
either to disappear or to be unusually
efficient; but since no trace of sunlight
can penetrate to any great depth, and
it is probably quite dark beyond a
depth of some two hundred fathoms,
of what use can eyes be ?
11frs. J. H. HORSNYDER, 152 Pacific
Ave., Santa Cruz, Cal., writes:
" When a girl at school, in Reading,
Oliio, I had a severe attack of brain
fever. On my, recovery, I found myself
perfectly bald, and, for a long time, I
feared x should be permanently so.

500,000 Dogs in Pasis.
Paris is interesting itself in a dog cru-
sade. Some ono has discovered that there
are 500,000 doge in that pity, and that it
costs 0,000,060 a year to feed them. This
is one of those statistical fallacies that
remind one of the discontented pendu-

dogs are worth to the owners in loyalty,

Unrivalled in Attractiveness.
The phenomenal success of the Toronto
Industrial Fair, which will be held. this
year from the 3rd to the 15th o£ September,
is duo mainly to the fact that the manage-
ment always keeps faith with the public.
Whatever is announced is always presented
-and the people know that they are sure
to get their money's worth. This season
the display will be unusally extensive and
varied. In live stock, manufactures, dairy
products -in fact, all the stable depart-
ments -the entries are much more numer-
ous than ever before. Some entirely novel
and brilliant spectacular features have
been secured, which will prove irresistible
attractions and fully sustain the reputation
of the Exhibition for presentinglthe latest
and most alluring form of popular enter-
tainm nt_,_The vivid,realisaz-of the fire-
works spectacle. "The Siege of Algiers," is
beyond description. The reputation of the
Fair, extending far -a -ad--• wide-beyond-'-ihe
boundaries of the Dominion, and the cheap
fares on the railroads, will attract large
throngs of visitors. Entries in the leading
departments must be in before August llth.
