THE WHY AND WHEREFORE. Th re is nothing marvelous in the fact that Hood's Sarsaparilla should cure so many disorders "flesh is heir to" are due to impure or poisonous condition of the blood, and that Hood's Sarsaparilla is an effective and radical blood purifier, the whole thing is explained. Besides its blood purifying qualities, Hood's Sarsaparilla also contains the best known vegetable stomach tonics, diuretics, kidney remedies and liver invigorants, and is tb as an excellent specific for all disord- ers of these organs, as well as for low con- dition of the system, or That Tired Feel- ing. HOW CHINESE DO THINGS. The men wear skirts and thewomen trousers. The men wear their hair long and the women wear it short. The men carry on dressmaking and the women carry burdens. The Chinese begin dinner with des- sert and end with soup and fish. Note first that the Chinese compass points to the south instead of the north. The Chinese launch their vessels side- ways and mount their horses from the off side. Books are read backward, and what we call foot notes are inserted at the top of the page. The Chinese surname comes first in- stead of last. The Chinese shake their own hands instead of the hands of those they would greet. The spoken language of China is not written and the wI itten language is not spoken. The Chinesedress in white at funerals andin moruning at weddings, while old women always serve as bridesmaids. NO MORE FITS. MRS WILLIAM LANOLEY WAS sIIRJECT TO THEM FOR FIVE YEARS—DODD's KIDNEY PILLS, WHICH NEVER YET FAILED, CURED HER. LONDON, June 11.—Mrs Wm. Langley, of 21 Euclid Ave., London South, has for the past five years been subject to fits. She was treated by doctors in Lansing and De- troit, Mich., and by three different phy- sicians in London. No one of them could onre her. About two months ago she be- gan using Dodd's Kidney Pills. Since then she has had no return of the fits. To -day she is perfectly cured. Her trouble was undoubtedly due to kidney disorder, a fact which the physicians who treated her never discovered and consequently, their treat- ment was in vain. KEPT ROBUST AND f3TRONG BY USING PAINE'S CELERY COMPOUND. "Last year, I learned a very valuable les- son," said a well-known Toronto business man: "I found that I oould maintain and keep up my bodily strength and nervous energy in a simple and very inexpensive way during the hot summer weather, and feel as well and strong as in the winter months. How do I accomplish it? Simply by using Paine's Celery Compound every day during the month of June, before the terrible hot and enervating weather oom- mences. In this way I brace up my system and nerves to meet the most weakening period of the year. Of course I find it an immense advantage to use Paine's Celery Compound twice a day—morning and night —during July and August. The towns and cities of our Dominion are full of energetic business men, many of whom find ;life weary and burdensome in mid -summer. They are weak, nervous, sleepless and run-down; often appetite is poor; the blood is impure, and courses slug- gishly through the body, and the whole human machinery is like a steam engine that cannot be worked properly until thor• oughly overhauled and repaired. It is pleasing to know that, like the To- ronto business man who has given hie ex- perience, there'are thousands of men—busy workers—in all callings of life, who are growing stronger, brighter and more robust every day, by using nature's restorer, Paine's Celery Compound.Pure, rich and healthy blood is sent through the deep parts of the heart, liver and kidneys, leaving in its passage material for rapid repair, and taking away in its stream the used -up, dangerous elements; seeds of weakness are driven from every organ, and all the func- tions receive new vim r and life. Your own family etfysician will tell you that Paine's Celery Compound feeds worn- out nerves, fortifies the system and clears the brain. It is the only medicine in the world that truly "makes people well." Now is the time to brace up and get rid of your troubles, if you would be strong dur- ing the heated term. One bottle of Peine's Celery Compound will convince the most skeptical that it possesses virtue and great power. It will certainly do for you what it has done for your friends and neighbors. You have the past testimony of thousands of Canada's beet people to guide and encour- age you. THE FERRIS WHEEL. Preliminary work incident to taking down the Ferris wheel of the Midway Plaisance is in progress. This consists 1 of placing false work, engines, and. hoisting apparatus. Very soon the big wheel will turn for the last time in Chicago. At that time several Ferris Wheel Company officials will ride around on the struts that are still in place. Some will simply hold to the ten inch iron beams, while others more timid, will be tied on. It will take ten weeks to take the wheel to pieces. The car that was used for carrying the Krupp gun will be used for carrying the seventy -ton axle. The material will be taken in five trains of thirty cars each to New York city. There are 3,000 tons of metal in the wheel, and 500,000 feet of timber is needed for the false work. Takingthe wheel down will be more dangerous than putting it up. Only one life was lost in erecting the big at- traction. The expense of taking down, moving and rebuilding the wheel will be $150,- 000. In New York it is to be placed at Thirty-seventh street and Broadway. Old Vienna will be reproduced around it. Here the wheel had 3,000 electric lights in; in New York the number will be doubled. The old Ferris Wheel Company goes out of existence and a new company, composed of New York men, has been formed. Superintend- ent L. V. Rice has charge of the re- moval. PROVERBS. Books alone cannot teach you to Minard's Liniment the best Hair Restorer Experience makes a man older thltn he looks. Never sing in German to a French audience. It is a common error to mistake gold for sunshine. Nature seems to have fitted some men with glass eyes. The wise physician knows how to put sunshine in pills. You won't find the word compromise in nature's dictionary. Byron used a great deal of hair -dressing, but was very particular to have only the best to be found in the market. If Ayer's Hair Vigor had been obtainable then, doubtless he would have tested its merits, as so many distinguished and fashionable people are doing now -a -days. The man who says "yes" only talks a great deal too much. There is not a cigarette's difference between some dukes and most dudes. I would as soon swap figs for thistles as principles for temporary success. It does not follow that because a thing is hard to learn it is worth re - mem bering. When advised to give a man all the rope he wants, remember the cordage trust. Those who dive into a cyclone cellar at the approach of a political storm stay there. Every day gives an additional reason for decent men to thank God they were not born lords. During the Fair the wheel went around 10,000 times and carried 2,000,- 000 passengers. The largest single load was carried on October 10, when at 12:30 o'clock 1,708 people were in the cars. The largest day's business was Oct. 10,when 38,000 people were carried. Oct. 0, 10 and 11 there were 114,000 pas- sengers, the largest average of any three days.—Chicago Tribune. Children Cu for 'purer'.
