—Wit. Cooper, a young farmer

—The Anglican bishops of Canada
met in Montreal Wednesday for the

Sullivan of Algoma was not present,
and his lordship holds the "balance of
power." It is said he favors Bishop
Lewis.
—An accident happened last week
to the Buffalo express due at Clinton
at noon. When coming down the
grade east of Blight the connecting
i-od and the axle of the front drivers
were broken, the cab smashed and the
locomotive wrecked. No lives were
lost, though the engineer and fireman
had a marvellous escape. The Clinton
and Goderich mail did not arrive until
night.

inghafn Chamber of Commerce the ex•
porters of Birmingham stet the mem-
bers of that body and discussed Caus
ado's offer of preferential tariffs to
Great Britain. A motion in favor of
accepting the offer was passed by a
vote of 76 to 61, and the meeting re•
solved that the Chamber of Commerce
do all in its power to induce the Gov-
ernment to take similar action.
