Our aim is to give our customers First-class Goods for very little
money. We mark our goods down to a bare -living profit,° and have but
one price. We do not advertise any Big Discount' Sale in order to draw
trade, for every intelligent person knows what that means. When a firm
advertises in that way, it Is quite easy, ,to;understand ;w14 -they do; they
simply add to the regular price the percentage they intend taking off.
This is a fact that bas been proven in the so-called Great Discount Sales.
When buying, don't simply look at the discount offered, but deduct that
discount from the regular price, and then compare it with the prices of
others. If you call on n9 *0can show yoil, the best assortment of Furni-
ture in the County, and our prices are as low as the lowest.

COMMONS
The first thing that strikes the viol -
ter to the .'House of Commons is that--
here. also it is exceptional among the
legislatures of the world; -;,the H'ou'e of
Cornmonelpermits its members to re-,
tains their hats during thesitting. In-
deed, it is the rule to wear and the ex-
ception not to wear the bat. Mr.Glat1s
stone never wears his, hat—there have
been exceptions, to one of which I will
allude presently; nor did Mr Smith, the
late respected leader in the Souse of
,CJotnlnons on the Conservative side;
nor did Disraeli; nor does: Mr Balfour,
nor Sir Charles Russell. A mein-
ben, however, can keep his hat.
on only when he' is in his seat,
If he rises to speak, he of course
takes off his hat; if he rises to leave his
seat and go out of the House, he has to
take off his hat; so long as he remains
standing in any part of the House, he
has to keep.off p his hat. There are
some of the older members who, even
when they lean over their seats to con-
versewith a member on the bench in
front of thein, take off their -hats, And
it is usual, too, when a member. inter-
jects an observation across the floor
to take it off. It was also the invari-
able custom when a .,member was re-
ferred to that he should raise his hat, -
but this rule le falling into desuetude.

A Chatham Banner reporter While en
news -gathering minds a few days ago
dropped into thewell-known drug store of
Messrs Pilkey & Co., and overheard scraps
oto nve
o ra tion b
a et e s
wen customers. which
the words "Fiulc Pillai and the name
"Hughson" were frecigently repeated,
With a reporter's instinct: Or a good news
article, he asked for some partioulars, and
was told that if he called upon Mr Hngbson
he would probably get a story well worth
giving publicity. Mr Hughson does a sung
feed and sale stable business on Harvey
street and thither the reporter repaired, and
was somewhat surprised to find the very
antipodes of an invalid. Mr .Hughson ii a
man of medium height, abgye fifty years of
age, born with a good constitution, and wbo,
until some 'three years ago only knew the
meaning of the word siekneds from the
dictionary. engineer by trade. and .a good
one, but some six years ago getting tired of
that palling quitted it and rented a farm in
Harwioh. While returning from town one
day on top of a load, one of his horses
stumbled, and Mr Hughson was pitched
head foremost to the hard, frozen roadway.
When he got home and the blood was
wiped away his external injuries seemed
trifling, but the grave trouble was inside,
and took the form of a violentand almost
constant headache. A week later he went
into the bush to out wood, and felt at every
stroke as if his head would buret. He
worked for half an hour and then went
home, and for eight weeks hie right side
was wholly paralyzed and his speech gone.
After a time this wore off and he was able
to go about the house, though he could not
walk. All this time he was attended by a
physician, whose treatment, however,
seemed of but little avail. In the follow-
ing June he had a second stroke and was
not out of bed for seven weeks and was left
very weak. The belief that he was doomed
to be a burden on those near and dear to
him, that he was unable to take his place
as a bread -winner, Added mental to his
physical anguish. But relief was coming
and in a form he had not expected. He
saw Dr. Williams' Pink Pills advertised
and asked his physician about them. The
latter said he had Rot .much faith in these
remedies, but they would do lib harm, and
Mr Hughson got a supply which he began
taking according to din tions. At the
outset his Wife was also o opposed to them,
but before.he had takenthem long she
noticed
'an improvement in hie condition,
and then was quite as strong in urging him
to continue their nae, and even took them
with good results herself for heart weak-
ness following la -grippe. Continuing the
use of the pills, Mr Hughson found his
terrible headaches leaving him and his
strength returning, and soon found he
oonld do light work on the farm near his
house. He still confirmed using Prink Pills
until' he had taken ' fenkteen by os, and
found himself fully restored'to iiia gid -time
strength. Mr Hughson's.: old neighbors in
Harwich never expectedto.see him.on his.
feet"again, and are astounded at,his re-
covery,so much so that the faine of Dr.
Williams' Pink Pills has spread far and
near throughout the township, and are the
standard remedy in many households. Mr
Hughson can be seen by any of our citizens
and will only too gladly verify the foregoing
statements.
The reporter then called upon Mesars
Pilkey & Co., at the Central Drug Store.
They do not, they informed him, make a
practice of booming any proprietary medi-
cine, so that the lead taken by Dr. Wil-
liams' Pink Pills is not due to persistent
puffing but to,irresistible merit, and on all
sides their customers speak of them in
terms of warmest praise.
Dr. Williams' Pink Pills are a perfect
blood builder and nerve restorer, curing
such diseases as rheumatism, neuralgia,
partial paralysis, locomotor ataxia, St.
Vitus' donee, nervous headache, nervous
prostration and the tired feeling therefrom,
the after effects of la grippe, diseases de-
pending on humors in the blood, finch as
scrofula, chronic erysipelas, etc, Pink
rills give a healthy glow to pale and sallow
complexions and are a epeci.fio for the trou-
lees pectliar to the female system, and in
the case- of mem they effect a radical core
n all cases arising from miental worry,
overwork, or excesses of any nature.
Bear in mind Dr. . Williams' Pink Pills
re never sold in bulk, or by the dozen or
undred, and any dealer who offers snb-
titutes in this form is trying to defraud
ou and should be avoided. Ask your
eater for Dr. Williams' Pink Pills for Pale
eople and refuse all imitations and sub-
stitutes.
Dr. Williams' Pink Pills may be had of
all druggists or direct by mail from Dr.
Williams' Medicine Company, Brookville,
Ont., or Schenectady, N.Y., at 50 centa a
box, or six boxes for $2.50. The price at
which these Pills are sold makes a conrse
of treatment comparatively inexpensive as
compared with others remedies or medical
treatment.
A well-known Windsor miser, nam-
ed Eugene Ducret, died at his home on
Campbell avenue, Windsor, on Friday
afternoon. When informed by the
doctors about three months ago that
he could not live much longer, Mr
Ducretsent for one of his bosom friends,
a clerk in the Inland Revenue Depart-
ment named Jubenville, and handed
him a sheet of mourning paper, on
which the following words were writ-
ten: "Wanted a second-hand coffin,
Apply at this office." " What do
you want me to do with -this?" in -
provided it has not been used too long.
quired Jubenville, as he looked at his
friend who was coolly opening a bottle
of wine. "Just exactly what I say,"
replied Ducret. "You take that to the
newspapers and let me have the re-
plies. ' Mr Jubenville failed to carry
out the wish of his friend and con-
sequently the price of a brand new
coffin' will have to come out of an es-
tate that is valued at fully $25,000.
