The White City's Site.
People will have a chance to wander
through Jackson Park free of charge after
Jan. 1. All of the State buildings will have
been swept away by May 1, either to grace
other spots in the city, or to be piled up in
some lumber yard. The public will mise
one feature of the exposition which it is
hoped would be left inside the exposition
grounds. The aquarium, which was on ex-
hibition at the fisheries building, will not be
kept inside the park. The Ferris wheel

Exactly 1,453,611 people paid to ride
around its immenee circumference during
the four months of its operation. The re-
ceipts at 50 cents eaoh, amounted to V26,-

bonds, the company divided 11426,805.50•
with the exposition. After paying its
operating expenses the company had over

Calves were in brisk demand at flrm rates,

The shippers are buying all the suitable sheep

helped to raise prices more or less of all other
kinds. Good Iambs sell at no to 4c per lb, and
common lots sell at 3ic Per ib.
Our aim is to give our customers First-class Goods for very little
money. We mark onr goods down to a bare -living profit, and have but
one price. We do not advertise any Big Discount Sale in order to draw
lrade, for every intelligent person knows what that means. When a firm
advertises in that way, it is quite easy to understand what they do; they
simply add to the regular price the percentage they intend taking off.
This is a fact that has been proven in the so-called Great Discount Sales.
When buying, don't simply look at the discount offered, but deduct that
discount from the regular price, and then compare it with the prices of
others. If you call on us we can show you the best assortment of Furni-
ture in the County, and our prices are as low as the lowest.

THE APPLE EXPORT TRADE.
The shipment of apples from this port to the
United Kingdom the past week amounted to
12,825 barrels, making the total to date this sea -
on 42,243. The contrast between this season sio cia
and that of a year ago is marked in this rspect.
The returns up to Nov. 4 last year, show a total ;10
shipment from Montreal of 300,611 barrels. But
from Coney Iialand, New York and London,
and a request wag made by the Antwerp
exposition for its removal and operation
there next summer. None of the bids were
considered satisfactory and for the present
the wheel will remain in Chicago.

ing Montreal, being 52,626 barrels as against
516,961 barrels up to Nov. 4 last year. There is
a very good reason for the falling off in the
apple shipments this year. There is not the
erop, in the first place, and even if there had
been a large crop it is doubtful if it would have
been required on the other side. There are
plenty of English apples. A recent advice says
that the country is blocked with common and
green fruit, but there is a shortage of tine color-
ed table apples. It is only the latter sort that
Etre being shipped from this side at present.
