We had oornmarketuesdas t The e orst of a succession of cyp export cattle trade was completely demoralized. Sixteen loads of shipping cattle which wore offered at Friday's market and did not sell were again placed on the market on Tuesday, and up to noomnot three loads bad found purchasers. The failure of a large export dealer in the Waterloo district to "lift" cattle contracted for early in the season at 50, and aver, compolled farmers in that neighbor- hood to let their stook go to the first bidder, and we are informed that the bulk of those eattle were purchased by Toronto dealers at 4 and 410 per lb. or fully lc per lb. under the contract pride, Among the passengers that arrived at New York, Sunday, from Havre, was George Grandin. He is a correspondent of La Journal, of Paris, and started out to walk to the World's Fair. He walked from Paris to Havre in two days, and there went aboard the steamship. He came over as a steerage passenger, and did odd jobs aboard the ship to work out his passage. He will start to -morrow afoot for Chicago, and will "deadhead" his food and lodging. He expects to cover about 50 miles a day. The northwest farmers are beginning to take an interest in politics. They see that whoever may benefit by the high tax policy they suffer and_that while government does put heavy burdens on them for the benefit of the favorite industries it cannot help them by insuring better prices for the goods they have to sell.
