ARRESTED AT KINCARDINE. -The
other day a couple of young fellows
came along to Mr Nixon Sturdy's,
Goderich township, and one of them
engaged with Mr Sturdy to work for a
year. Mr Sturdy told the young fen
low that he was going into Goderich,
and he could stay in the stable until he
came back. Mr Sturdy, by -the -way. is
a bachelor, and he locked up the house
and went to Goderich. When 'he
came back the young , men were no-
where to be found, but traces of them
were quite manifest. They had broken
open the house, ransacked it pretty
thoroughly, taking among other thinns
a couple of suits of clothes. He laid
information against them,"and it was
learned that they had gone to Kincar-
dine, where they were arrested on
Tuesday. Mr Thos. Gundry brought
them back on Wednesdayand they
are now in jail, awaiting trial. This
should be a warning to Mr Sturdy not
to keep "bach" any longer. That a
good-looking, amiable young fellow
like him should so far forget -his duty
to soviet ' asto lead a life of "single
wretchedness"is unaccountable and
he :Itlmost deserves to loose ail the
-clothes he has.

PRESENTATION:—On Friday evening
of last week a""' large number of the
friends and neighbors of Mr and Mrs
Edward Turner gathered. at the home,
and presented each with a handsome
easy chair, accompanied with the fol-
lowin address :-
To Mit AND MRS TURNER, -DEAR RNER, DEAR FRLENDs—
We, on behalf of the community, have availed
ourselves of this opportunity to express our re-
fer you. We much regret your removal
om this neighborhood as it will sever rela-
tions which shall ever to associated with the
most, pleasant. memories., We feel that you
have been a romoter of any good work, and
have been pillars in the church with whicyou
have so long been connected. In the Sunday
School We have always found you painstaking
and able teachers, and those who were ever
present at the post of duty; while in the prayer
meeting we feel that your presence has been
almost indispensable. In the class meeting you
were ever ready with the word of encourage-
ment or of assistance, and we feel that your
timely counsel has often been of material bene-
fit to us in our spiritual life. In your removal
from our midst, rest assured that you carry
with you the best ,wishes of all of us, and we
feel certain that hose with whom you are to
associate in your new surroundings will soon
learn to appreciate, your worth, Ind you will
find many new friends to take the place of those
you are leaving. We now request hat you will
accept of these chairs. as a token of remem-
brance and regard of your Tuckersmith friends,
and our prayer to God is that your future home
maybe one of great prosperity and happiness.

Although taken by surprise, Mr
Turner gave a very suitable reply, ex-
pressing much regret at removing
from the farm, where he has lived for
over 50 years. A very enjoyable time
was spent by those present.
