Huron Presbytery. The 1»resbyte of Huron met in Carmel church, Hensel), on Tuesday, May 9th, Mr Robt. Henderson of Au- burn, in the chair. Mr Wm. i1. Mar- tin, of Exeter, was appointed Convener of the Home Mission Committee, for the ensuing year. Mr R. Henderson presented the financial .report for the past year, and a tabulated statement of the contributions per family to schemes of the church within the bounds. Attention was- called to the failure of some of the congregations to contribute to all these 'schemes. Explanations of these. failures were given by the pastors, and the hopewas expressed. that there would be fewer blanks in the report for the current year. The Presbytery . ordered the printing and distribution of the tabu- lated statement. Mr Henderson also presented the report on. systematic beneficence, which was adopted. Not- ices were read from other Presbyteries ,of`their intention to applyiit the next meeting of the General Assembly, for the reception of six ministers' of other •churches into the Presbyterian church in Canada. Mr Musgrave reported that he had presented before the Pres- bytery of Chatham, the call of Mr Neil Shaw, of Tilbury Centre, from the con- gregation of Egmondville, and that Mr Shaw's translation had been agreed to. It was decided to hold the induction services in Egmondville, on the 23rd inst., at 2 o'clock_p.m., Mr Musgrave to preside, Mr R. Henderson to preach, Mr J. A. McDonald to address the min- ister, and Mr J. A. McDonald tt, ad- dress the people. Dr. Mobonald pre- sented a report respecting"Christian Endeavor Societies 'within he bounds. The returns to questions sent down showed that there were 18`of thes6o- cieties, containing about 300 active members, and about as many associate members. The following recommen- dation -was adopted.:—That a commit- tee be appointed as one of the Standing Committtees of the Presbytery, 'whose duties shall be, (1) To prepare annual- ly a series of questions as to member- ship, work done, etc., to be sent to each society, after submission to the Presby- tery. and approval by them; (2) From the answers received to prepare a re- port to be copsidered at the January meeting of Presbytery; (8) To prepare a letter, which, after approval by the Presbytery. at its March Meeting, shall be.sent to each Society.
