II'BR, olete BG,
Messrs E. MolntyrIRBe AREand P.80 FParur,lwho
are here purobaeing Canadian bred stal-
lions for the Utah market, have secured a
partioularly good lot this time. Among
the number are the following: They pur-
. chased from Mr John Brown, of Hallett, a
two-yoar.old. named "Gladstone," which
weighs 1,890 pounds, and is considered one
of the best young stallions ever sent from
this country, and thatis Baying a good deal.
They have also purchased from Mr Win,
Wilson, of Meliillop, "Cambelton Chief,
Jr.," coming three years old, and weighing
I,800 pounds; also from Mr. Thomas Simp-
son, of MoKillop, neat Leadbury, a fine tWo-
year old, named "Young Dick," and weigh-
ing 1,700 pounds, and one from Mr Thom-
as Beatty, of Goderiob township, named
"Perfection," coming three years old, and
weighing 1,600 pounds. Mr McIntyre has
sent away a great many good young stal•
lions, from this part, and he says himself
and Mr Farr have got as good a lot this
time as he ever had. We have not heard
the prices paid for these colts, but under-
stand that they were pretty well up consid-
ering the times.
There is no reason why children should
be allowed to suffer fromiloathsome scroful-
ous sores and grandular swellings when
such a pleasant, effective and economical
medicine as Ayer's Sarsaparilla may be
procured of the nearest druggist. Be sure
you get Ayer's.
Sympathy is power, It is a result of
love, and yet it is love itself. In every
walk in life, it is the rescue line of
sympathy which snatches the prodigal
child from his waywardness, and causes
him to feel his need of a purer life and
a closer walk with God. The Christian
whose words are brim full of sympathy
is a power for God in the circle in
which he moves, and has the imprint
of Christ's character stamped upon his
nature. Chaos has peen reduced to a
state of order, forces at variance have
been made to clasp hands as friends,
and all is but the silent and gradual
wearing of those numerous currents
of real sympathy which find their
source in heaven's vast reservoir. The
teacher who lacks sympathy is in dan-
ger of thwarting Christian growth,
and handing over to the world dwarfs,
instead of men and women deeply
"rooted and grounded in the love of
God." It is the sympathy of house
which encourages the faithful mission-
ary in his work, and assists him in
scattering broadcast through every
clime the glad tidings of great joy.
JAMES BLAIR'S CASE.
NAPANEE April 10th. A highly interest-
ing case has happened in this town, which
is creating a good deal of comment. Mr.
James Blair, a well-known merchant tail-
or here, has for fourteen yeare been a suff-
erer from that' terrible complaint, known
as Bright's disease of the Kidneys. He
suffered so terribly that one hours work at
the cutting table would completely exhaust
him, and he had to almost to give up work
altogether. Ile tried almost every known
remedy fot his complaint, but without any
good results. Medical men and patent
medicines failed him, and -he was gradually
getting worse every day. Finally he read
a dispatch in one of the local papers, stat-
ing that a man named Murray, living in
Gravenhurst, had been cured of Kidney
trouble by using Dodd's Kidney Pills. As
a last resort Mr Blair began taking these
pills, and three boxes made a new man of
him, and seven boxes completely cured him.
Mr Blair is back at work again, and says
that he feels twenty years younger, and
that these pills completely cured him. His
recovery has created quite a sensation.
Tho Potent Hawaiian PLek-die-Up,
Poi is made from the root of the tago
plant. The tago grows in the water and
its broad leaves float upon the surface. It
has a root very similar to the turnip, but of
more elongated form. It is prepared by
grating it upon a slightly hallowed volcanic
stone upon which water is poured from
time to time. The whole eventually forma
a paste, which undergoes a slight fermenta-
tion, and is pleasant to the taste. There is
a drink on the islands known as a "poi
cooktail." h is made by stirring the paste
into a glasa of milk. Its virtues were dia-
oorned many years ago by Europeans. For
the "head" which follows a night's debanoh
there is nothing like it. When the stomach
absolutely refuses anything known to civili-
zation, when the throat is dry and burning,
tho voice husky, the temple throbbing and
the hands shaking, the poi cocktail is ewal•
lowed. 1t is almost instantly assimilated.
A delicious feeling of calm and rest steal( t
over the patient. The paste covers the in.
flamed walls of the stomach and protect(
them. The throat becomes once more of
flesh, not fire, and the head ceases to ache.
In fifteen minutes he is ready for another
spree.
