MONTREAL LIVE STOCK MARKET
There was a good supply of butchers' cattle
offered at the east end abattoir to -day, but there
was very little small stuff on hand. Tho butchers
were present in considerable numbers and trade
was brisk at about the same rates as prevailed
last Thursday. A few head of the best beeves
sold at from 4} to 433. per Ib. with pretty good
stock at about 4o do, while some .of tho leaner
dry cows sold down to about 8c per lb ; bulls sold
at from 3 to 31c per Ib. Nearly all the best
calves were bought up before reaching this
market; prices today ranged from 95 to $12 each.
Sheep continue to sell at about 4c por lb and
lambs at from 4i to 5c.
