CONVENTION,—We have re- ceived an admirable report in detail of the Sabbath School convention held here on February 15, and of which brief mention was made last week, but it unfortunately arrived too late to be of service this week. The following sumtnary, taken from it, however, will ,be of interest :—The reports of Secre- taries and Superintendents of Sabbath schools was taken up. Dr. McLachlin, of the Presbyterian church, Auburn, reported 13 officers in the school, the greater number of whom are ladies; on the roll are 80 pupils, of which five have been added duringpthe year; the average attendance is 48. Complained of a want of punctualityat the opening of school; the distance from school arid the early hour of meeting being the reason assigned; 34 of the pupils studied the shorter catechism, 28 the smaller catechism. Average attendance, 42; so far as ascertained there are 42 be- in this respect, having a stock of tween the ages of 5 and 21, who do not attend school; 28 signed the temper- ance pledge. Mr Joseph Washington, Men's Furnishings of the Auburn Methodist, reported a full and efficient staff of teachers, en- That will meet the taste of the couraged by good attendance, and pa- rents taking a deeper interest in the mos fastidious work. Rev Mr Henderson gave a brief report of the Smith's Hill school; at• tendance very fair, and a faithful staff of officers. The Westfield and Donny- brook officers not having arrived, the Rev, F. Swann reported both schools well provided with teachers, Westfield possessed a fine library; Donnybrook, owing to the severe weather and dis- tance of the scholars, was closed this winter. The most pleasing feature of the report was the number who had joined the church from the Sabbath - school. The following are the officers elected for the current year :—Presi- dent, D.E. Munro; Vice -President, Dr. McLachlan. Executive. Committee— pastors, superintendents and Bible class teachers of the various schools. John Wilson, Secretary and Treasurer. The next meeting will be held in the Methodist church, Auburn, on the third Wednesday of February, 1894. the marriage of her daughter Marion, to Mr John F{uker, of East Wawanosh. The bride was attired in black satin, ,iind supported by her sister Agnes, while the groom was assisted by Mr Joseph Medd. After the ceremony, which was performed by the Rev S. Acheson, all sat down to a sumptuous repast, where they did ample justice to the things provided for the inner man. The happy couple took the even- ing train for home, accompanied by the good wishes of their many friends, and showers of rice. We join in wish- ing them a long and prosperous life here, and when done with this life a glorious hereafter. NoTEe.-Mr Jas. Bell has purchased the Doig estate; we hope that the mot- ives involved in this purchase are good ones. Mr John Chambers, of Crediton, was visiting friends here last week. The Presbyterians are preparing for a grand tea meeting, to be held at the re -opening of their church. Our enter- prisingtailor, Mr Ed. Nablo, has re- moved to Hensall. Mr D. Weismiller .has sold his house and lot to Mr Ivison; we are glad to have an addition to our village, even if we do lose one of our fair sex. Blyth NOTES.—Mr J. S.
