TEA MEETING.—A treat will be given
next Tuesday evening, in the form of
a tea meeting. Tea will be served in
the Orange hall, and music will be fur-
nished by the band while tea is being
served, after which addresses will be
delivered by the following gentlemen,
in the Methodist church: Revs. T. E.
Highley, Blyth; Hughes, Wingham;
Torrence, Goderich; Ayers, Holmes -
villa, and the resident clergymen.=
Music by the Methodist choir; proceeds
in aid of the band.
WEDDING.—A very pleasant event
took place at the residence of Mr Robt.
Roberton, on Jan. 19, being the mar-
riage of his daughter, Miss L' zie, a
very estimable young lady. o Mr
.Oliver Clark, a highly esteems and
industrious young man. The bride
was attired rn gray, and was assisted
by her sister, Miss Tilly, and the groom
by his brother, Temple. The bride
was the recipient of many useful and
valuable presents, showing the high
esteem in which she was held. We
wish them long life and prosperity.

MARRIAGE.—Guests to the number

SOMETHINC SINGULAR.—About four-
teen months ago a little girl, daughter
of Mr Elijah Townsend, near Londes-
bore, got several cherry stones up her
nose while playing. Her parents re-

The first meeting of the South Huron
Farmers' Institute was held at Zurich
on Friday, whioh was well attended.
Addresses were delivered- by Prof.
Shaw, Mr Butt, Mt Buchanan and
others. In' the evening a free enter.

with the institute. Mr Weismiller was
appointed chairman. Theabove-named
gentleman were again called upon.
Music was furnished by the Doan
orchestra and Hess Bros. string band.
The songs of the Germania Manner
choir were highly applauded. The
-programme was closed by the Zurich
vocophone baud, which was a marked
feature of the occasion. -
WEST HURON FARMERS' INSTITUTE,
The most successful meeting ever held.
by the West Huron Farmers' Institute
was closed at Dungannon, on the 1.8th
inst. The attendance was large, and
great interest taken throughout. The
delegation consisted of Prof. Shaw, 0.
A.C.; H. L. Hutt, B,S.A.; John Jack-
son, sheep breeder, and D. Buchanan,
of the Live Stock Journal. The sub-
jects discussed the first afternoon con-
sisted of, "Why we should increase
our flocks, and how to improve • tbPfte
in Ontario," by J. Jacksen; D Buchane
an spoke on selecting a sire; H. L. Hutt
spoke on the "Rotation of crops."
Prof. Shaw then gave his object lesson
on cattle, having before him a beefing
and a dairy animal. Tho subject was
very instructive, as he drew compari-
sons between the tw,o animals as they
stood side by side: At the evening
meeting Prof. Shaw spoke on "Remov-
ing the old land marks." H. L. Hutt
spoke on "'arming as an occupation."
"The Ontario Agricultural College,"
was spoken to by D. Buchanan. It
was decided to take the Live Stock
Journal, and all those who join the In-
stitute can have the same for 50c. extra.
On Wednesday morning Prof. Shaw
spoke on "Cross breeding;" H. L. Hutt, 1,
"The silo." The election of officers re-
