AULD SCOTIA, -The Caledonian
gathering at Lucknow this year will
be held Sept. 14,under the auspices
of the Sons of Scotland of Huron
and Bruce. We have to thank
Chief McPherson and Secretary
Malcolmson for a complimentary.
By the way, in .the circular we re-
ceived, the Chief's name is spelled
with a small "c" -Mc. This will
never do, for according to some
authorities it ie only the Irish Mace
who abbreviate the prefix to Mc.
and the idea of a Scotch Chief be-
ing an Irishman may cause an
attack on him with claymores and
bagpipes.

Editor News -Record.
DEAR Sia, -I would like to ask
the ratepayers of Bayfield if any of
them ever go to the school to see if
the work is being done properly or
not ? 1 say more, how can you ex.
pest a good job out of such brick as
is going into it I I think it is a
shame to allow the trustees of Bay-
field to boodle our money away in
such a manner. The brick are not
half burned and how can you ex-
pect a job with such material 1 I
think there has been some hole and
corner meetings going on. Surely
this is not another mill scandal ! I
suppose the trustees think anything
is good enough for Bayfield. Well,
I suppose it will have to do, but
the people of Bayfield will have to
pay for it all the same. Yours,
ALEXANDER GLELDENNING.
