ing the Robert McCartney farm near
Brumfield. It has been leased to the
Messrs Drown, of Hibbert, for a term of
five years, for 8250 a year. It contains
100 acres.
The potatoe rot is causing great anxiety
in Huron and many parts of Brum County.
The farmerssay the crop is the largest they
have had i
for years, but in some nstances
the rot is so bad that they would not take
the trouble to raise them, but 1AQU
them in. One ,farmer--iti--Trirny had
about -four -a -aim under crop and a short
time ago they were fine; now they. have
taken the disease and all are going. He
would have had about 2,000 bushels. His
loss will be in the neighborhood of 9800.
What might have been a fatal runaway
occurred about a mile north of Blyth on
Tuesday. Alex. Nichol, of lot 17, con. 7,
Morris, was returning home with a load of
apple barrels and met a man driving in.
Each hacitheir_tespeotive-dogs-ttud the hike

dogs got under Mr Nichol's wagon, which
frightened the horses,causing the runaway.
Mr N. was thrown from the load on to a
pile of stones by the side of the road and
though not seriously injured received a bad
shaking up internally and some ugly
bruises. The wagon was completely de-
molished.
