PLEASANT GATHERING. -On Christ-
mas night River View, the residence of
Mr John Stewart, presented a festive
appearance when an his relatives living
in "Western Ontario and a number of
invited guests assembled and spent an
enjoyable time. At 6.30 dinner was
served, when the doors of the spacious
dining -room were thrown open reveal-
ing long tables artistically decorated
and fairly groaning under the weight
of Jumbonian turkeys and an array of
choice delicacies, the sight of which
would have called forth exclamations
of delight from an epicure. The walls
of the dining room were hidden by
evergreens, ferns and floral mottos and
formed a pleasing contrast to the glit-
tering tables. When justice had been
done to the eatables, desert, consisting
of native and tropical fruits and choice
confectioriary, was served, after which
dancing was commenced and the light
fantastic was tripped until the wee
sma hours, being indulged in as heartily
by the frisky head of the house, a
sportive lad of over three score, as by
the younger members of the party.
Mr George H. Steckley, a gentleman
formerly in Her Majestys service, Lon-
don, Eng., acted as floor manager, and
received the thanks of the assembled
party for the efficient manner in which
he discharged hi S duties. Mr F. J.
Rathwell, S. C. B. C., of Stratford,was
the lion of the evening, and many were
_the admiring, glances bestowed unon
him by the unmarried female 'rotten
of the pariy.' • Mr J. L. Parke contrib-
uted largely to the amusement of the
evening by the performance of several
extremely interesting sleight of hand
tricks, while another gentleman pre-
sent sang several solos, so low as to be
heard by only a small portion of his
audience. Mrs Chas. Stewart and Mr
Jas Barkley furnished the violin music
and Miss Annie Stewart presided at the
organ. Mr and Mrs Stewart were pre-
sented with a number -of valuable pre-
sents by the members of their family
and received a vote of thanks from the
entire party for the manner in which
they had made the evening enjoyable
to every one present, after which all
separated hoping that their host and
hostess be long spared to enjoy Christ -
Mae.

WEDDING BELL. - Another of our
young men has left the ranks of bache-

Thursday, Dec. 24, 1891, Mr Joshua

rich township, in the person of Miss
Susie Oustrum, youngest daughter ,of
the late Samuel Oustrum. The cere-

the bride's mother, in the presence of
a select number of relatives and friends.
Rev MrAyers, of Hohnesville, perform-

Tuckersmith; Mr David Cook, brother
of the groom, did the honors of the
groom. After a hearty feast was par-
taken of, a number of the guests es-

of rice, as they went off on their wed-
