inttnitg, there is a remarkable differ-
ence between there in many respects -
It depends upon the basis of classifica.
tion, ar' to how many classes we may
divide them into. This brief article
dval 'With only two classes, men
of ublIespiriS, and men who are utter-
ly LeI1cknt in this quality.
Of course there are some, whose par-
ticular calling neeessarily brings them
before the public in such' a way that
they must identify themselves with
Whatever is of public interest to any
special community. On the other
hand, however, there are a great many
in every town who are living, if not in
complete fox getfulness of the public
welfare of their own town, are selfishly
ignoring it.
We do not refer to business interests
alone, but specially to those questions
of public morality and social reform
which occupy the attention and efforts
of all who have some interest in the
advancement of the human race. It
will be found as a general rule, that
the majority* of people, whom you
might naturally expect to give to these
matters a generous support, are fre
quently in the habit of neglecting
them, so that whatever is accomplish-
ed on these lines, is done by men of
true public spirit.
Others are solely interested in them-
selves, and although they are found in
general approving of most good meas-
ures, yet it is simply approval, without
any active support.
A revolution would take place, if
every one who approves of a great
many things, would but add some earn -
est work.
We have have reason to believe,. that an
enthusiasm would be created that
would sweep away long ,seanding ob-
stacles, which seem do insignificant,
but which will v!..sid to nothing less
than united eJrts. The question is
not, "what ..,ze you doing brother?"
but "wh es- are you neglecting ?"

Put thcu thy trust in God.
Lean thou upon his arm,
Though rugged be thy road,
He'll shield thee from all harm.
Give thou to Him thy love,
Thy treasure let Him be,
He left His home above,
And bought thee on the tree.
Look thou to Him for power,
Each duty to fulfill,
He'll grant thee every hour,
Rich grace to do His will.
Commit to Elim tby grief,
When sorrow fills thine heart,
He'll send thee sweet relief,
And' heav'nly aid impart.
Take all to Him in prayer,
As past the moments fly,
He'll to thy cry give ear,
And all thy need supply.
And when thy sun goes down,
And all thy days are past,
He'll come for thee His son,
And take thee home at last.

Shall then thy portion be,
And bliss withciiit alloy,

four months posted from home in Brooklyn
no less than 20,000 printed Wipe, asking the
women of New York not to wear birds or

Miss Clara Millard, a clever English
woman, has made a new departure in
woman's work by starting a shop for the

Methodist Church of Araerioa, held a few

The Queen of the Belgians is very fond
Ji traveling incog., and this fancy Is said
to lead to amusing experiences. Her plain
dress on one of her recent journeys was the
occasion of her being zrowded out of her
place in the railway carriage by a vulgar
parvenue, who was unwilling to travel in
the company of a person in such ordinary
costume.
It is reported that in Vienna the health
authorities are about to regulate the length
of the dresses worn on the street. They
ought to go a step further and regulate the
size of the waist. If this were done, two-
thirds of the battle of the dress reformers
would be won. Free America would find it
difficult to enforce the law, but that would
not be a new experience.

Mrs George Bowron, of Chicago, has re-
cently -patented a oar -coupler of her own
invention, whose simplicity and ingenuity
ha.Ve won the praise of all practical railroad
men who have seen it. Experts say that
by its help cars can be handled much more
expeditiously, and with perfect safety.
Mrs Bowron is a native of South America,
of Spanish descent. She says her invention
is the outcome of ten years' study.
Mrs Alice E. Davis, a resident missionary
living a .few miles out of Jerusalem, is an
accomplished artist, and earns a portion of
the means by which s'Ae prosecutes her
work by making sketches of sacred places,
which she sends to Ameria, where they find
ready sale. She also makes beautifully
artistic albums of pressed flowers gathered
from spots mentioned in sacred story. Rev
David Swing, of Chicagoehas one of these
albums, in which are flowers from Rachel's
thnib, the garden of Gethsemane, the Mount
of Olives, and other sacred places of equal
historic interest. Mrs Davis is preparing a
large and handsome series of these albumr
to be put on view as a part of the special
xhibit in the woman's building during the

ago, and the other day he married
Miss Nettie Andersaunt. The divorc-
ed wife, who was in Philadelphia at
the time of the proceedings, returned
Monday, and now relates the startling
tale. She says her husband came
home one day and said that he was on
the edge of financial ruin, and that if
she would desert him temporarily it
would gain him the creditors' sym-
pathy. Thinking to help him she
went to Philadepb ia. Trodo, it is said,
then filled the papers with sensational
stories of his desertion. Divorce pro-
ceedings were filed, but Mrs Trodo
says she got a letter from her husband
saying that the suit was a "fake" and
advised her to make no answer. When
she heard of Trodo's marriage to Miss
Andersaunt she was astounded and
she determined to investigate. The
lady's character is said to be very good,

Mrs. Jos. Lake, Brockway Centre,

indigestion made my life a burden
and came near ending toy existence.
For more than four years I suffered un-

a skeleton, and hardly had strength to
drag myself about. All kinds of food
distressed me, and only the most deli-
cate could be digested at all. Within
the time mentioned several physicians
treated me without giving relief. Noth-

Ayer's Sarsaparilla, which has pro.

duties. The medicine has given inc a
new lease of life, and I cannot thank
