PRESBYTERY OF HUrtON.—The
Presbytery ineCin Heusall on Tues-
day of last week. Mr. Corriere,
Moderidor,. presided. Messrs Mc-
Donald and J. S. Henderson woro
appointed to address the meeting of
the Women's Foreign Mission So.
ciety in -January. It was agreed to
recommeml to the Assembly that a
summer session bo held in the Mani-
toba Colloge,theologicol department,
in order that students might bo avail-
able for lhe mission fields in tho
winter season. Leave was asked
and obtained to moderate in a call
at. 11I3nchester and Smith's hill.
A call was sustoiued from Bayfield
congregation and that of Blake, to
Rev. J. A. McDonald, of Toronto.
Provisional arrangements wero made

hie accepting the call ; Mr. Need-
ham to preach, Mr. Sitnpaon in the
absence of the Moderator to preside;
M r. R. Henderson to address the
minister and Mr. Acheson the poo•

the 24th inst., at Bayfleld Road
Church. 'Messrs. Acheson and
Simpson were appointed to consid-

distribution of probationers. Messrs

regular meeting of Presbytery will

owned and operated by L. C. Dicks,
Fordwich, and before assistance
arrivedsall the buildings, consisting
of saw mill, and sash and door fac-
tory, were in flames. The machine

total loss is $3,500; insurance,

CANADIAN. NEW NOTES.
—According to the ceusus just
taken by the police authorities the
population of Toronto on November
1st was 188,914, which is some
7,000 more than the Dominion
census gives.
— Fourteen cargoes of potatoes
have been ehipped from Ring's
county, N. S., to Cuba, and more
are going forward. Prices are bet-
ter than last year and exports
double.
--Shipping; is fairly brisk at all
Prince Ed ward Island porta. Oats
and potatoes, the two staples, are
of good quality and a large crop.
Oats advanced in price this week
from 34 to 35 cents per bushel.
Many cargoes of oats are being
shipped to Great Britain, where
they are in demand at high prices
and will bring a large sum of money
back to the island, while local starch
factories are consuming enormous
