tion for dynamite which he pro•
poses to sacrifice to Jupiter I'lnvius
in the arid regions of the \Vest with
the purpose of scaring that god
into contributing a decent rainfall
to those god -forsaken parts of
Uncle Sun's territory. A Dakota
farmer carried out tho Senator's
great Pluvial idea by exploding
about one hundred pounds of dyna-
mite. And brought rain, and it
has been raining ever since. Too
much rain. The fields are as soft
as pulps the crops are rotting in
sloughs of mud and it is still rain-
ing. It is evident that if Senator
Farwell its going to take liberties
with nature ho must stand the
consequences. The Dakota farmers
are now begging him to provide a
stopper to bung up the skies with
or else prescribe an antidote for t'he
dynamite dose. If he can't comply
with the demands his scheme is
doomed to unpopularity. It is too
} 'uccessful._
