DEAR Sig•, --I beg space to reply to
your editorial headed "Chrietiauity."
I quite agree with you in giving the
Salvation .Army Credit for the noble work
they are doing throughout the world.
But I must very decidedly differ with
you when assert that "no man knows he
is saved." Th'A.t "a man becoming saved
would be immediately translated to join
the augelic throng,' and "that man has
no use for Christianity once he is saved,"
let It would indeed be cold comfort to
an unsaved man to tell him Christ came to
this world to save sinners That h
fin-
ished the groat redemption work, But
that it isn't possible for us to know that w.e
are saved. Your reference to "a -proba-
tioner fur a profession" does not apply to
leis ease. True, we are all probationers
here. But we have a conscience that tells
us when we do right or wrong. The
sanctified soul may be as fully conscious
of purity as the unaanotified is of impur-
ity. The justified soul may know, by the
witness of the Holy Spirit that God has
pardoned his sins. "He that believeth
is not condemned ; he that beiieveth not
is condemned already.' Again the Bible
tells us in Job, 33. 32. "I desire to justi•
fy thee" and Job says "I know that I
shall be justified." Again we read "If
Christ be in you the dody is dead," and
"No man ie justified by the law." "The
e shall live by faith." It isnot porta-
ble for us to die to the world and live for
Christ without knowing it, and knowing
hat we are saved by the power of God.
Turn to Ezek. 18. 27, "W hen the -wicked
man turneth away from his wickedness
which he hath committed, and doeth
hat' which is lawful and right, he shall
save hie soul alive." Christ game "to
ave his people from their sine, "_and
