MONTREAL LIVE STOCK
MARKETS.
There were about 420 head of butchers'
cattle, 300 sheep, and a few calves offered
at the east end abattoir on Monday.
Trade was fair, but there was no advance
on the low prices for common and inferior
cattle.,,- A few of the best beeves sold at 40.
and Mr. Bickerdike bought 100 good heifers
for stockers from 3fo to 31c. Mr Leith
bought 24 steers weighing from 800 to 1,000
lbs. each at about 2/0. He is going to ship
them to his farm at Kingsey Falls, where
they will be fattened throughout the winter
and will be shipped next Spring. Common
dry cows and lean beasts are still very low
in price, some selling at less than 2c per
Ib. All the good calves were bought up be-
fore reaching the market, at high figures.
The prices of those sold ranged from $3.50
to $6 each. The sheep were generally poor,
brought up from the French parishes near
Quebec, and they realised low figures, but
good lambs are in demand at advancing
rates and would bring $3.50 to $4.50 for
choice Fat hogs are scarce round the
yard, and prices are looking up from 4ic to
4io.

Some time agna Toronto lad named James
H. Bailey was arrested on a charge of com-
mitting criminal assault on a girl, and the
Police Magistrate sentenoed him to five
years imprisonmentand to get fifteen lashes.
After the trial it was alleged that the boy,
who was of weak mind, had been frightened
by a detective into confessing the crime, and
that his mother was not allowed to see him
after his arrest. Friends of the lad took up
the case and appealed it. Tuesday it was
tried before Chief Justice Galt and Justice
McMahon. After hearing the evidence the
Chief Justice issued a peremptory order to
quash the conviction and set the boy free,
at the same time onaraterizeng the con-
viction by Magistrate Denison as a most
outrageous proceeding. The Crown did
not defend the case. The matter should
not end here. If the facts are as alleged
somebody ought to go.

I take great pleasure In informing you that a year
ago Histogonetic Medicines cured Inc of a serious at-
tack of paralysia. Three years ago I had a eudden
stroke while sitting ou a sofa ; a second one fourteen
months ago while lying in bed. All I did for it failed
to do muchtgood. My voice and all oaeside were bad-
ly affected, At last I tried Dy J ETgene Jordan's
Histogenetic Remedies. In three months my Yews
became strong My limbs, whicla:were almost useless
regained full power. I no longer needed to be assiet-
ed to the table or from any one place to another. My
muszles developed wonderfully, considering that I
am "14 years of age. I can walk to church and back
regularly. The effect has been permanent now for
about twelve months. Last April I had a severe at-
tack of pneumonia and Ilistogeoetic Remedies cured
Inc in a few days, and on the Stb of this month I
took congestion of the liver and right lung I was so
bad 1 could not have /heed long. In a few hours the
Histogenetic Remedies once more gave immediate
relief. 11:19 only two weeks, and I am sitting up
every day and nearly well. To say that my faith in
Histogenetic Medicines le strong but faintly expresses

which resulted in bronchitis and other serious com-

my Mends decided (to try Bistogenetio medicine,
and in less than three days a change for the better
was so apparent that we were all inspired with hope,
I continued the treatment for a number of weeks,
progressing slowly. but surely, day by day. I am
now comfortably well and am still gaining in strength
and power of endurance and am a wonder to those
who knee/ bow hopeless my case was. To show my
