of his unique methods of research, and am
therefore competent to form a correct judg-

and painstaking whicn the doctor has expen-

Also having used these medicines in my own
practice, I can say that their actual success

MONTREAL LIVE STOCK
MARKET
FS]
There were 800 head of butchers
cattle, 500 Calves and 150 sheep and
lambs offered at the east end abattoir.
There were scarcely any really prime
beeves offered and anything good
brought firm rates, the best selling at
about 510 per 1b, with pretty good
stook at from 4,2o to bo do, and rough
half -fattened beasts ,at from 4o to 41e
per lb. There were a good many milk-
men's strippers offered and they met
with a good demand at about 035 each,
some of the best going up to $45.
Calvgs sold well, I` lnsidering the qual-
ity, and prices were from 02 to $9 each.
Sheep that were shorn sold from 04,50
to 06 and lambs at from $2.25 to 04.50
each, but the butchers say that both
sheep and lambs, especially the latter,
have lost considerably in condition
since they went to grass. Fat hogs are
in pretty good supply and sell e,t from
5ic to 5o per Ib. The receipts of
horses via the G T R for the week were
279. The arrivals of thororighbred and
other imported stook at these stables
for the week and shipped per the G T R
were ex -Norwegian, 25 ponies consign,
ed to W Kuschall, Toronto. The
horse trade at these stables during the
week was better than that of last week
and 26 horses were sold at fairly satis-
factory prices. There are on hand for
sale 52 horses, Comprising a few choice
drivers, medium and heavy draft
horses, with two car loads to arrive
early in the week.

TORONTO LIVE STOCK MARKET
Cattle—The market to -day, under
heavy offerings for local sale and un-
favorable reports of eastern markets,
was somewhat weaker in tendency.
Prices, however, were not quotably
changed, but sales were rather slow,
still the demand was about sufficient
to clear everything up. The quality of
the staff on sale was only fair, and that
had a good deal to do with the condition
of the market. Butchers .are always
willing to pay good prices for well fatt-
ed beeves, but they can't always get
their wants supplied and for that class
of Cattle prices ranged from 4,1 to 4Ic
per lb, with a few extra choice bead
going up to 50. Fair to good beeves
sold at from 31 to 4,ic per Ib. with infer-
ior light weight stuff going down to 3,' c.
There was a moderat. :.port demand,
seven or eight loads being purchased,
but shippers were unwilling to grant
the highest figures of last week. Prob-
ably the fact that the most of the cattle
offered as exporters were rather light in
weight had something to do with the
weaker feeling. Mr. Crawford was the
principal buyer to -day, purchasing sev-
eral loads. Prices for the best export
stock hardly touched 5i per lb. and the
bulk of the sales were made at Sic
ranging down to 50 per lb.
Sheep and lambs —The market was
firm under small offerings, and all were
wanted. Good fat wool sheep sold at
$7 to $9 each, or about 6c per Ib, and
inferior and clipped sheep at $5.50 to
$7 each. Spring lambs found a good
market, and all good ones were wanted
at prices ranging from $4.50 to $5 each,
and fair to good from $3.75 to $4.

Andrew McGuire was placed on
trial at Gobourg, on a charge of
attempting to murder his former
sweetheart, Miss Tucker, by
throwing her under the wheels of
a Grand Trunk freight train. It
appears McGuire had pestered
Mise Margaret Tucker with his
attentions and had repeatedly
threatened her. On the night in
question she was walking along
the station plarform with an es-
cort and according to the evidence
of Prof. Reynar, of Victoria Col-
lege, and other witnesses, Mc-
Guire, bis eyes burning with in-
sane jealousy, ran up to her and
deliberately pushed her in front
of an incoming train. Her escape
from death was almost miraculous,
her life being only saved by the
promptness of the engineer.—
Prisoner's counsel attempted to
prove that the occurrence was
purely accidental—that McGu're
had unintentionally run against
the girl. Tho jury, however, found
him guilty of the offense ts
charged. It was shown that
McGuire had some time ago
grievously wounded and attempt-
ed to kill John Tucker, the father
