GET YOURQAY't3 WORTH -- This was the etch?sot'of A ggrand lec- tura -by Rev •E 1$ Stad'ord D D, of Toronto, on Moniisyy evening last, in .Ontario St Mothodistfohurch, The chair was taken by 'Mr J A Giffin, President of the •Y P C E Society, and a short musical-rograi a was most excellently rendered. Two choruses by the choir led by -Mc Will Bay, a quartette by Miss Walkei, and Mesara Kay, Harland and Foster, and a duet by Misses Walker made up the number. Four points were emphasized by Mr Stafford, 1st the valueof money, 2nd what money cannot buy, 8rd what money can buy, and 4th how to get your money's worth. The whole lec• tare was replete with good common sense and was clothed in the finest English and enriched by many Doelo- r ant passages. At the close 'Mayor berty moved and Mr D. Tiplady seconded a vote of thanks; which was heartily carried. Rev Mr . Shilton closed the meeting with the beuedie- tion. SOMAL—The Young Women's Mis• sion Band of Willis Church, Clinton, held a Candy Social in the Lecture Room of the church, on Friday even- ing last. Notwithstanding the rather stormy weather, there was a good at- tendance. The young ladies in charge of the supply of candy, which, by the way, was of their own manufacture, and would do credit to experts, were keptbusy for a time satisfying the cravings of the "sweet teeth" that thronged and pressed at their table. During the course of the evening the full supply was disposed of. A short but interesting program was present- ed—a chorus by six girls; a duet by Misse.4 A. Fair and A. McGarva; and a solo by W. P. Spaulding RevMr, Stewart delivered an address -urdi! -Mbraeons, giving a brief but clear and comprehensive outline of the mission work carried on by the Presbyterian Church in Canada, comprising mis- sions to the South Sea Islands, to the New Hebrides, to the Northwest In- dians, to Central India, to Formosa, and1to Honan, in China: Mrs Coats' S.S. class also made 'use of the meet- ing for turning into money the work of their hands during the past months In the shape of fancy work, and met with a gratifying measure of success. The total proceeds of the meeting, which are to be devoted to the cause of missions, amounted to about $35. WILL`IS CHURCH Y. P. C. A—The regular meeting of the Y.P.C.A., of Willis Church, was held in the Lec- ture room, on Monday evening, ' Mr Grant, vice-president, in the chair.— There was a good attendance of mem- bers and others. The musical part of the program consisted of a duet by Mrs W. Coats and M. s Riley, a quar- tette by Misses Fair and Porterfield, 'and Meann T Jackson, jr and R Ag- new. The principalppart of the pro- gram was an address by the Rev. W. Craig, B. D., on "The Missions of the Church of England," this being the second in the series of missionary ad- dresses being delivered under the auspices of the association. The speaker referred in turn to the great missionar societies in connection with the Zhurch of England in Eng- land, andave interesting facts in the history ofgeach. The first referred to was the Society lorthe propogation of the gospel in foreign parte, which was fully incorporated in the year 1701, although at an earlier period an act of incorporation had been obtained. It was shown that the society girdled the whole earth in its operations in extending the gospel. Its annual I)i- come amounts to something over a million of dollars. The next, referred to was the Society for the promotion of Christian knowledge, which, while devoting its special attention to the disaeuilvation of Christian literature, In which direction an extensive busi• ness was done, yet some attention is paid to purely missionary work. Re. Terence was also made to the Church missionary Society, the Continental and Colonial Missionary Society. The Church of England in Canada bail no Missionary Society directly under its control, but has contented herself in contributing to the funds of some of the societies named above, from Which the church here owed much in days gone by. A missionary has been sent out by the Wycliffe College aathoritles, and lately the Church of nAgland1hore had sent p missionary direotly'under their awn edatrol.
