' THE BITER BITTEN.—A travelling agent sold a Clinton, Mich., farmer a receipt for adding 50 per cent. to the weight • of his wheat when he put it on the market, the farmer signing a contract to pay the ped- dler half of the money he made out of the extra weight given to his grain. The "contract" a little latter turned up in the shape of a note for $300, which the farmer had to -pay out of the proceeds of his wheat without any added weight float tho dearly bought process. The ',roper verdict in this case would seem to be, served ]tins right, 'f11138T 1'r' N('r•—Owing to the scarcity of good apples in many sections of the country this fall, thorn are more buiug dried than usual, the refuse being used gener- ally for this purpose. And now there is a ".trust"•proposer' to corner this dried fruit. But this dried apple trust is dangerous. The scarcity of rain this fall so far would indicate a very moist- rain.., when it does come, and if this "trust" should get caught in it there would be a dried apple swell "bust," that would discount the heaviest dyna- mite upheaval.
