O. 11110111111=111111811102505=1.11111111111111111 About five o'clock on Wednesday afternoon Mr. William Dyment was suddenly stricken with congestive apoplexy. The geutleman was at once removed tu his room, where the Doctors Shannon were soon in attendance, but so severe was the attack that their medical skill was powerless, the patient passing quiet- ly away at 10 p.m. Mr. Dyment it appears had, with Captain Macleod, been busily engaged during the afternoon at the dock and while so engaged had taken a hearty drink of ice cold lemonade, a drink that is held by many to have superin- duced the congestion that has filled a plot in God's Acre with the mor- tal remains of one who was known in this neighborhood as a most generous and kindly. man. After leaving .the harbor ho drove up towu, and separating from Captaiu Macleod .was proceeding to. his• lodging, and while in front of the British Exchange he hurriedly sat dowu in a chair ou the sidewalk, then raising his hands above his head and breathing a powerful sigh he .fell back unconscious. It may he mentioned that the deceased had ,been for.some time under the care of 1)r. Whitely, who was treating_ him for A. serious complication of heart troubles, but so strongly was the disease engrafted that ou the evening preceding his death he naeutioned the fact to an intimate friend, coupled with an earnest request that the friend would pray for him. On reaching his room he . was so bad as to .be uuable to rest, but with his usual consideration for others ha -did not. complain, and at early dawn rose and tried to ward • off the attack. The attempt, how- ever, *as futile, as tho exertion combined with the excessive heat aggravated rather than lessened the power of the fatal malady. In losing Mr. Dyrnent Godetich loses one of her most esteemed and enter- prising citizen, and in the words of an old resident who had often worked for him, "He will over be rim -imbued as one of the most symprthetic and conailerate of men." There were two funeral ser- vices in commotion with the inter- ment, that at Godorich being con- ducted by Rev. Geo. Richardson, an old friend of the nunily, and that at Barrie by Revs. McLeod, Couron and Cpllah. The pall bearers at, Godorich wore deceased's old school, companions, Dr. aud Bedford Rich- ardson, and Messrs. F. AV. Johnston, R. nwt., W J. Swanson and Capt. I/. Macleod, and at Barrie Meal's. .1. R. Cotter, C. H. Ross, S. Lount, J. M. Steveson, Dr. lAlcNivon and. Captain Lyons, members of the Dark) curling club. There was a large attendance at the Godorich station to witness the departure for Barrio, at which town an immense number of friends were present to show respect to their ono time townsman and friend. The remains were interred on Friday afternoon iu the family plot in the Union cemetery, a very large number of relatives and friends being present. In Goderich the flags on the vessels and at the. harbor were at half mast as the sad procession moved to the station, and among those of our townspeople who knew the man there Wier a heartfelt sympathy for deceased's parents, relatives and friends.
