For growing animals it may form considerable part of the rations. -We venture the prediction that the man whe begins right now stock- ing up the farm with good grade or pure-bred cows, and heifers and turns a respectable registered bull in at their head will in two or three years time fairly reap dollars fpr all dimes invested. -There is a popular notion that soft maples grow much more rapidly than those of the sugar -bearing kind called hard or rook maple. The soft maple naturally grows on low, rich, marshy ground, which may cause its greater luxuriance in such conditions. The hard maple is a few days later putting forth leaves in spring, but otherwise is every, way ns desirable as the other and for sugar making is much more 80. CATTLE MARKETS.
