The winter will soon be past and the time for spring sowing be at hand. It will then be of the greatest iluportance that farmers should know whether they are Bow- ing good or bad seed; that is, seed which will have full germinating power. Now, the Government at Ottawa hag made provisions where- by any agriculturist in the land, without one ceut of coat to himself, may know just what amount of -vitality his seed grain possesses. An important part oldie Expetimental Farm system at the Capital is a seed -testing house, where, by the most approved scientific methods, the percentage of germinating power in, say, 100 seeds is ascertained. To enable each farmer to avail himself of this valuable privilege, Hon. Mr. Carling has made arrangements whereby seeds or letters of: inquiry may bo sent through the Mail free of•cost. It is only uecessary to address the enve- lope,'"(Jeutral Experimental Farm, Ottawa,' and place ther'eu, say, 250 seeds), along with ' the writer's address, and drop the package into letter box or post office. In the course of teu days or two weeks the answer will be returned. Farmers ,aro nut so busy jest now that a single one need deny himself this privilege. HARD LINES IN DAKOTA.
