MONTREAL LIVE STOOK
MARKET.
There were about 550 bead of butchers
cattle, 15 calves, and 250 sheep and
lambs offered at the East End abattoir
and a good many more were held over
at the stook yards, because their own-
ers did not consider it best to put them

and among these were nearly 100 head
of Manitoba cattle,offered by S.L.Head,

Company at 5c per lb.; he also sold an-
other load of cattle to Mr Tozer, of
Quebec, at the same rate ; he also a lot
of good lambs at 50 per lb., and a sup-
erior calf for $18. Mr George Nichol-
son bought ten very guaiac beeves at 5o
per lb., and several otter city butchers
bought single animals at about the same

for good veal calves, and fancy prices
were paid for them. Mutton critters
were in actiye demand at from 4c to 4ic

lambs, with a few choice iambs at higher
'rates. Fat hogs are plentiful, and rather
