There were about 750 head of butch-
ers' cattle, 40 sheep and a few calves -of-
fered at the east end abattoir; the but-
chere were present in Lull force, but
were in no hurry to buy when they saw
such large supplies, moat of which were
in tolerably good condition, but scarcely
any of them could be called prime beeves.
and only one sale was made as high
as 4 cents per lb, with very few
at.more than .3;1c, .and common. stook
from 2¢c to 3c, with lean and rough
cattle at from 2 to 2i4c per Ib. There
were not many sales made up to noon -
and it is probable that a good many head
. I will have to be held over for another
i market. There were only a few mutton
• critters offered and these were mostly
of indifferent quality and prices ranged
from $31 to $5.50 each. There were no
fat -hogs on the market and wily a few
, have. come in lately. There wore no
sales reported;the latest sales were made
at about 5fo per lb..

TORONTO LIVE STOCK.
Receipts so far this week have been
only twenty-one loads cattle, with a few
sheep and lambs and hogs mixed with'
them. There was quite enough of cattle
but all the small stock were wanted.
Last week's receipts were 1,673 cattle,
223 sheep and lambs, and 149 hogs.
There was a fair demand for good but-
chers' cattle, but the lower grades were
not wanted. The quality of the offer-
ings was ger erally fair, but. many of
them were a little on the light side.
Prices ruled steady at Friday's decline.
Nearly all were sold or shipped ont. A
few loads went to Montreal, and one to
Hamilton. Export cattle were Blow,
foreign advices being unfavorable. A
bulls and'oxen were taken at equal to 3
to •3,}c per Ib, and steers at 4. to. 41c.
There is a good demand and prices are
firm at $4.50 to 35.50 per iliead for
animals weighing 75 to 100 lbs each.
Receipts are light and not sufficient to
meet the demand. Sales were: 20 sheep
averaging 140 lbs, at $5.25 per head,and
18 sheep and lambs, 120 lbs, at° 55.50
per head. '
