from the Lindsay Post.>
In the face of f eIslQ fortune, andthe
vicissitudes of life, a golden *wedding•_ is
an event which,it is the gooI fortune of
buts few to live to celebrate. - "Three
score years and ten ,are not allowed to
every one, and how7nuch less frequently
are husband and_wife together spared to
live oat this full measure of man's allot-
ment, and in the few instances 'where
tier does occur there is almost neoessar,
ily some "vacant chair' in the a * circle
'round the parental hearth, caused by
the untimely death of some promising
son or loved .deugliter whose place in
the family is 'ewer `filled, . and whose
{ early demise has left a canker of grief in
the parents' hearts, which 'no time can
"- `completely heal. -
The event we are about to chronicle it
one to be spread upon the records of
family history as phenomenal in the
long chain= of unbroken links whack
herein are found. Here,is not only an.
aged couple of seventy-four and seventy-
one years respectively, in good health,
enjoying the fiftieth anniversary of their
anptala, but with them are twelve
ren, whom they reared- around the
very hearth whioh; now glowswith their

of family spring time. Her coming, was
followed in somewhat regular succession
by ten other little bright faces who
crowded each other from the cradle and
a mother's knee through the changing
conditions of -childhood and. -adolescence

But yet, the family'reoord is notcom-

• At this tarty day in the history of
Canada the countrywas an almost un.

a little gap that marked the presence of
