- The ZUrieh Fair..
The Zurich Fair Directors were fav-
ored with & splendid.day, neither too
hot nor tell cold. and the little town was
filled to overflowing on Friday last with
men and women, lade and lasses a-holi-
s' (laying* ; Several of the stores were
nicely decorated with flags, - etc., andon
• the grounds were a -Punch and Judy
show, St dime Museuin. filled with livinff
wonders: "all alive and not stuffed rain
yert" and a large -number of refresh-
ment booths. The Crediton Brass
Band was on thegroundsand enlivened
the airwith excellent music- at
intervals; throughout the day.; The
- show as used was first clan, making
the competition keen. The showinside
though perhaps not equal to that
of Ia-st year was good, there being
, especially 'large displays in Fruit
and Ladies' work. Outside there
was a large display of as fine vehicles
and implements as could be seen any-
where and ,many of the horses shown
would not have been out of place at
Toronto 4-.:r London. Altogether this

One Sunday morning, after they were

seeing the oat, saluted him farniliariy.

Smith. •• • _
He, noticed that a spruce -looking man
the next yard looked up in some sur-

Another day„ -later on, hiving gone
out to call the cat, he again saItited.him
thus: -
" Well, Mr. Smith, how do you like
it down here ?. Do you get plenty of
rats to eat ?"
• ,Glaricing over he saw his neighbor .
again, and thier_time the neighbor op -

peered he regarding him very intently,
• with 'a queer expression on his 'face. So
he thought to propitiate him with. a
friendly salutation :
"Good morning, sir:"
",Morning. But why in the 'world do
you ask me whether I get rats enough
to eat, and why do you call,me a fine
?" •
" didn't know I did, sir."
"Well you did: I am -the conductor
on the Boston and 'Blank Railroad and
my name is Smith. -And you are always
coming out of your door and calling
'Mr. Smith! Mr. Smith 1' or making
some such confounded remark is you
made just now. -
, I want to know what it all means." '
The explanation wasn't, particularly
difficult ;- but out o consideration of his
'neighbor's feelings the owner of " Mr.
Smith has given iipthe use ofthat name
for the animal out of doors. }

A NEW HOME TREATMENT FOR THE CURB OF CATARRH,
CATAREHAL .DEAFNESS AND HAY FEVER.
• The microscope has proved that these diseases
are contagious, .and that they are due to the
presence of living parasites in the interlining
membrane of•the upper air passages and meta-
• ohian tubes. The eminent scientists,- Tyndall,
• Huxley and Beale endorse this, and these
authorities cannot be disputed. The regular
methodof treating these -diseases has been to
apply dn irritant remedy weekly; and even
daily, thus keeping the delicate membrane in a
constant state otirritatiou allowing it no chance
Aoleal, and as a natural' consequence of such
reatment not one penman ent mire has ever been
recorded( It is an absolute fact that:these dis-
eases cannot be cured by any . application made
oftener than once in two weeks,- for the mein.
•'bromic must get a_chance to heal before; an appli.
cation is repeated. It is ,now seven years since
Mr. Dixon discovered the parasite in catarrh arid
forniulated his new treatment, and since then
his remedy luus become a household word in
-every- country where, the English language is
spoken. CUTOS effected by him seven.years ago
are.-oureestill, there havingbeen no return of the
diseMe.• •
SO highly are _these remedies valued, that
Ignorant imitators have started up everywhere,
pretending to destroy s parasite of which they -
know nothing, by remedies, the results of the ,
application of which they are equally ignorant.
"Mr. Dixon's remedy is applied only once in two
weeks, and from one to three, applications effect
ea permanent currin the most aggravated cases. •
Mr. Dixon sends- a pamphlet describing his
• new - treatment on the receipt of stamp to pay
