The driver was unhurt.
The car, valued at ap-
proximately $8,000, was ex-
tensively damaged.
The dragster was com-
pletely reinforced by roll
bars and was equipped with a
padded cockpit and seat
straps. The driver wore an
asbestos suit in the event of
fire if the car should crash.
Dragway officials said that
the driver might well have
been fatally injured if the
dragster had been less well
equipped.
Luckil y, the St. John's
Ambulance Corps was on tap
Sunday for the first time
since the track opened. Of-
ficials praised the prompt
and professional manner in
which the Corpsmen cared
for the driver after the ac-
cident.

Everyone is interested in
new ideas for grooming so
here are a few —
1. Tired of getting runs
in your hose? Try putting
them in the freezer before
wearing them. Take them out
after 15 min. or so and hang
the stocking straight so they
will thaw out. We can assure
you that this will really work.

2. A new idea is to paint
your finger nails with clear
polish and then sprinkle
sparkles on them.
3. To keep bows pert and
pretty spray them with hair
spray and “form" them as
they dry. This way they will
hold their shape longer. Hair
spray won't affect color or
cloth, either.
4. If you want lipstick to
be at its best, then put it
under refrigeration. The
colors will be as bright as
when you bought it, and the
oils will not seep out. We've
found it's really neat for the
summer.
5. The best dressed girls
always have a ribbon or band
in their hair that's of the
same material as their out-
fit. It really looks sharp with
long flips.
6. To stop runs in stock-
ings we girls use hair spray.
More of us seem to carry that
around than nail polish.
7. A cool way to get lint
off dark -colored clothes —
just take a sponge, dry, and
brush it off. The softer the
sponge the better it works.

Democracy is the consen-
sus of opinion of the ma-
jority of the people crys-
tallized into law.

Democracy is rarely
beautiful in its working, for
the many still refuse to be
refined, restrained and ar-
tistic.
