be the best choice, because
from there you can view the
dance floor — postage stamp
size, crammed with twisters
of all ages.
Lighting is by hurricane
lamp. Furniture is informal.
John and Edith McInnes are
your hosts.
You're never absolutely
sure what will happen on the
stage at the Imperial.
Want quiet?
Try the Colonial HoteL
Perennial favourite and
probably the oldest eating
house in Grand Bend the
Colonial is open 365 days of
the year, and under present
ownership for 20 years. Har-
old and Janet Klopp are your
hosts.
Don't let the wall-to-wall
carpets and the colonial fur-
niture in the lobby scare
you. The place is informal—
shorts and slacks and swim-
suits are OK. (This goes for
every place in Grand Bend,
by the way).
There's radio music all
over, generally restful un-
less some D.J. gets out of
control.
The Rod and Gun Room has
the same music, and again
there is wall-to-wall. A
piano bar is not staffed, but
if someone in your party
plays, then bring him along.
Mr. Klopp's famous gun
collection is housed in the
Rod and Gun Room.
Specialty of the Colonial
Is broasted chicken, either
in the diningroom or to take
out. It makes the needed
central point for refresh-
ments at many a home party.
One of the best, yet to
visit.

Dorothy MacDonald is the
hostess in the Sherwood
Room where you dine on the
verandah overlooking the
tiny meandering Ausable, or
choose the inner room where
a monster fireplace domi-
nates the area.
Waitresses here are
pretty too, but they also wear
fascinating deep green uni-
forms which are really more
like costumes, and this adds
to the enjoyment of the meal.

Calms People
Griff Thomas (he sells
furniture in case he's un-
familiar to out-of-towners)
tells us the people coming to
Grand Bend this year are a
little quieter, a little more
relaxed. "They get that le ss -
harried look", he says, "be-
cause that darn old bridge
we've had to put up with is
gone at last and we've got
a decent one now."
"How's that", we asked.
"Well", he said, "they don't
get into a rotten temper going
through the congestion at the
corner and they don't feel
they have to rush about on
Main Street to get out again
before the traffic gets
worse".
Perhaps, then, Griff, with
the new traffic lights, the
situation will get even more
organized and everyone a
little bit more calm and col-
lected?
"No", he said, "they'll
come right down the street
madder than blazes after
waiting for the blinking light
to change and for some wo-
man driver to make up her
mind whether she can make
a left turn or not."
But we do notice more
families in The Bend this
year.
Orval Wassmann is one
that agrees with this opinion.

visable. He who has a little

bossed leather plus intimate
little tables, in air-condi-
tioned comfort, and either
piped music, or the honky-
tonk piano tunes of Bob
Daniels provide the enter-
tainment.
Mr. and Mrs. Cam Chap-
man are the hosts.
Maybe you've not found the
right place yet. Golf?
Then visit Oakwood. Most
famous 18 -hole course in
Ontario possibly. Lodgings
right there in the long -
house, or a cottage — and
the lodge has the most
polished service and cuisine
anywhere.
There's a maitre d' and
steward from Nassau and
pretty waitresses in daffodil
yellow. With all of this, who
needs twist music — or even
Bach?
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Walker
are hosts.
Have fun . . and games .
