The• funeral of the late Mrs. Samuel
Honey, of Logan, was one of the largest
ever seen in Perth. The deceased was
buried in the Methodist cemetery in
Mitchell, and it was a touching and im-

in Texas, Tennessee, Oregon ,and West.
Virginia. The votes in all of those,
states will talre place next fall. It was
broadly 'stated by hidebound American
politicians that the independent action
taken by the prohibitionists during the
last presidential' election would throw

United States twenty years. It certain-
ly does not look much like it. The fact
is that the cause of probibieion bas to he
fought and the temperance forces will
alwaysgain by taking the aggressive.

The strange disease which has been
reported as doing great damage among
the horses in the vicinity of Wapella,
Dewitt County, is looked upon by horse
men of Central Illinois with much concern.
Two imported Norman stallions have died,
and ten are now affected. 38 mares have
died and many are sick. So tar as known
the local cases are now all quarantined.
No remedy has so tar been discovered.

the circus structure was blown oil. The
pendant lamps hanging from the root were

one of the lightly built walls of the struc-
ture fell in and the whole building imme-
diately collapsed. A large number of

It is probable that the foreign demand
for wheat from' this continent will be
greeter during the ensuing year than in
1885-0, when India sent such a large

James Creighton, of Birr, in Middle-
sex, was arrested on a charge of perjury.
It appears that in April, at a Scott Act
trial, be swore that he had sold no liquor
since February , whereas, it is said, he
had been four times convicted for violat-
ing the Scott Act after the date men-
tioned. Thos. Richardson, a Dorchester
hotelkeeper, who was recently fined $50
for violating the Scott Act and failed to
pay up, appeared before Police Magis-
trate Noble on Friday on the charges of
evading arrest and disobeying a sum-
mons. He was sent down for two
months.

to members of all secret orders, and to
exclude from membership, if any, who
may have crept in unawares. In the
debate on these resolutions Freemasonry
was bitterly denounced.
