of a plot to assassinate President. Ar-
thur arose from the sworn statement
of one Bayley, an attache of the .Army
Medical Museum of the Surgeon Gen-
eral's Department, to the effect that
'while in bed in his house No, 461.-,Mis;
eouri avenue, on Monday night, he.
board two men 'standing in frotlt of the
house plot the assassination•of the Pre-
sident. One asked the other if he
would swear to do it, and the other
answered that he would kill hitt with-
in a month. I.Bayley says he saw the
men as they walked off. and he cam ful-
ly recognize then.. No arrests have
been Made.
New York, Sept. 28.—The Poore
Washington special says Bayley, who
gave information concerning a plot to.
assassinate President Arthur, is reli�
able, but the Icircnmstances of the talk
indicate that the men were excited or
half drunk.
