The trial of Vankoughnet,theLoagh- baro• murderer, , has been concluded. this week. Wiman Co., showing the number of failures for the quarter ending Sept. 35, ,1881., is as follows For the United. '.States 1,024, against 979 for the same quarter' of 1881. The liabilities for the IInit ed Skates were $10,1.12,365, for the third quarter in 1881, as against V2,- 121,422, for the same period in 1880. The liabilities for the Dominion of Canada in the ,"third quarter in 1881 were $787,889, against $1,- 219,763, showing a reduction of $431,874. The failures in Canada for the first nine months in 1881 were 479, against 779 for the 'same period last year—a reduction of 300. The liabilities in Canada for the first nine months in 1881 were $4,690,74.7, against $6,880,611 in 1880, a reduc tion of $2,189.,864. In the. United: States for the first nine months' off this year the failures were 3,890, "ageins't 3,476 in 1880 and the liabilities $51,= 010,185 in 1880.
