A very stormy'meeting of the Provi-
signal -Council'. was held at Kincardine :on
the 21st inst_ - .The contract for the erec
tion of the County.buildings at Walkerton
- was .produeed, ,but the Warden, _Mr. Gi,1
lies, refused to`'sign it. ' The Council thed
passed a motion: of want of confidence in
the. refractory Warden,when' he refused to
Ieave: the ohair'until he -was removed :by
force: or legal process, .' Next morning the
council elected Mr. John McLay .Chair-
man for the remainder
of_the year, and
authorized -him to sign' the contract which
was done on the spot, • 'Whether Mr. Gd -

not, know, and we are equally uncertain as.
