office at the Christmas meeting Canadian Legion, at their dinner
of Hensall Legion Ladies' Auxil- meeting last Wednesday, elected

Discussion centred around a
Christmas party for the Red Cross
Eric Reid Old Soldiers' Home at
London, and Monday, December
some thirty men at the home' will
be entertained and presented with
Christmas parcels and served
lunch. In charge of the lunch will,
be Mrs. Gordon Munn and Mrs.
H. Smale. Mrs. Ron Mock and
Mrs. Inez McEwan were chosen a
committee to look after a Christ-
mas gift for a war veteran at
Westminster Hospital.
Several thank -you notes were
read. Reports were presented:

To Hold Christmas Tree Party
The annual Christmas tree party
for the children of Hensall and
community will be held Saturday,
'December 21, at 2 p.m. Following
the arrival of Santa Claus and
opening ceremonies, treats will be

Ruth Carter, of Clinton, formerly
of Hensall, and the late Harold. W.
Carter, anal the groom's parents

The Rev. Father J. W. P. Graham
officiated.
The bride was lovely in -a bal-
ler_na-length gown of pink satin
and net styled with a bolero jack-
-L. Her fingertip veil was held by
a tiara of seed pearls, rhinestones
and sequir:s, and she carried a
white Bible, crested with pink
roses.
Mrs. Donald B. Hedden., of Lon-
don, attended the bride, wearing
a black and red ensemble. Donald
B. Hedden, of London, formerly of
Hensall, was groomsman.
For travelling, the bride donned
a black and powder blue sheath
dress, with matching accessories
and corsage of red roses. The
young couple will live in Clinton.
The bride is a granddaughter of
Mrs. Catherine Hedden, of Hensall.

Plans were outlined for a kid-
dies' party for members and their
children, to be held Sunday, Dec.
22, the Sunday previous to Christ-
mas. A fishing film, loaned by
the CNR, was shown in charge of
Frank Ellwood.

to the vehicle was $400.
Mrs. Lavin, RCAF Station,
Centralia, lost control while driv-
ing on the Crediton road and hit
a tree. Damage was $300.
OPP George -Mitchell, of Exe-
ter, investigated both accidents.
Nursing Home Sold
The Queensway Nursing Home,
Hensall, owned by Mr. Earl Burtt,
has been sold to Mr. and Mrs.
Orville A. E. Jones, of Lucknow,
who took over possession on De-
cember 1. Mr. Burst, who came
to Hensall from St. Marys a year
ago, was unable to continue on
with the nursing home owing to

of Robert Drew Davis, eldest son
of Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Davis, of
Hensall, she was presented with
a black cat as a token of good
luck by her cousin, Miss Elizabeth
Burnell.
The Rev. E. C. Mortimer offici-
ated at the service at St. Michael's
Church, and Brian G. Pugsley. a
friendof the bridegroom, was the
best man. The organist, F. Jack-
son, provided traditional wedding
music.
Given in marriage by her father,
the bride wore a ballerina -length
white lace dress, embroidered
with pale green flowers, a coronet
and veil, and carried a bouquet of
fresias and lilies of the valley,
which was later placed on her
grandmother's grave.
The matron of honor, Mrs. Phil-
omena Pugsley, wore a full-length
midnight blue dress with a bolero,
and carried a bouquet of pale
mauve carnations and pink roses.
She also wore marcasite earrings
and necklace, gift of the bride-
groom.
The bride's mother chose a
green mixture suit with tan ac-
cessories. The bridegroom's moth-
er was unable to attend, as she is
in Canada. The reception held at
the bride's home and catered for
by the Dorrien Cafe, was enjoyed
by sixty guests, and later the bride
and bridegroom left for their hon-
eymoon in London. The bride trav-
elled in a petrol blue dress and
a navy blue fitted coat with ac-
cessories.
They were the recipients of over
100 presents, including silver, lin-
en, cheques and other gifts. The
bridegroom gave his bride a mar-
castic brooch, and she gave him
a gold signet ring.
