FARMERS' UNION DRAW
A•satin-bound blanket was drawn
for Friday night at Winthrop in a
draw sponsored' by the Farmers'
Union. The lucky ticket was
drawn by Judy Howatt, and was
held by Mrs. Charles Klt:ber, Wal-
ton.
Ten games of euchre were play-
ed, and Winners were as follows:
ladies' first prike, Mrs. Dave Muir;
ladies' lone hands, Mrs. Jim How-
att; consolation, Joan Hamilton;
men, most games, Bert McClure;
lone hands, Harold Storey; conso-
lation, Wilber Godkin.
A few hours of dancing were en-
joyed with .Collins' orchestra.

Morris Council
Morris Township Council met in
the township hall with all the
members present. The minutes of
the last meeting were read and

CHURCH GROUPS REPORT MEETINGS
FIRESIDE FELLOWSHIP GROUP
The Fireside Fellowship Group
of
'''F'irst Presbyterian Church met
at the manse last Tuesday evening
for the annual Christmas party.
There were thirty present.
The guest speaker was Prof. J.
R. Scott, who gave a concise talk
on the life of the pioneers of Hur-
on County, telling of the social
life, the hardships the people had
to endure, and of the undying faith
they had in God and themselves.
The talk was enjoyed by all plies -
McLeod read the Christmas story
from Luke. Reports were given
by the various committees. The
January meeting will be the at-
,tendance at the prayer meeting,
with a business meeting at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. F. Kling
after. The February meeting is
to be held at the home of Dr. and
'Mrs. E. A. McMaster.
Following the address. by Prof.
Scott, Mrs. D. Glenn Campbell
' moved a vote of thanks to him.,
John Cardno then called Rev.
ent. and Mrs. Campbell forward, and
Mrs. R. E. McMillan presided . they were presented with a pair
over the meeting. and Mrs. Harry of lamps and a gift for Anne. Mrs.

The December meeting took the
form of a sumptuous pot -luck sup-
per at the home of Mrs. William
Leeming, on Tuesday evening,
with 23 present.
Miss Gladys Thompson presided,
using for an opening number, a
Christmas hymn, followed by
prayer. A very interesting Christ-
mas reading, "Special Lessons To
Be Learned From Trimming a
Christmas Tree," was given by
Miss Thompson.
Mrs. J. M. Scott read the follow-
ing slate of officers for 1958:
president, Mrs. B. Walters; vice-
president, Mrs. Lorne Carter; sec-
retary, Miss Ethel Beattie; treas-
urer, Mrs. F. Storey; pianist, Mrs.
P. B. Moffat; . social committee,'
Mrs. G. McDonald, Mrs. L. Carter.
Miss Thompson conducted two
interesting .contests, after which
each member received a Christ-
mas gift.
Mrs. G. McDonald voiced the
thanks of the meeting to the hos-
tess, also the convener.
GROUP 4, NORTHSIDE W.A.
The Christmas meeting of Group
4 of the WA of Northside consisted
of a pot -luck supper and meeting
at the home of Mrs. J. A. West-
cott, with 18 members and three
visitors present. Mrs. Alvin Riley
opened the meeting with a prayer.
Mrs. Fred Marshall read the scrip-
ture, and two Christmas carols
were sung.
The slate of officers for 1958 was
presented. Members handed in
their talent money for the year,
and told how they had earned it.
Mrs. Joseph Dill was in charge
of the program. Karen Dill con-
tributed piano selections. Mrs.
Isaac Hudson read "The Legion
of the Black Madonna." Mrs. Mar-
shall conducted a game, and gifts
were exchanged.
Mrs. Pollard thanked Mrs. West-
co•tt for the use of her home, and
Mrs. Hudson expressed apprecia-
tion

tion of the group to Mrs. Riley
for her excellent leadership dur-
ing her three years as president,
and asked that all members give
the new president their support
during the coming year.
